the zestiria anime fixes and also messes up many things at the exact same time its actually kind of impressive i have to salute them for it
#.text#zestiria#i mentioned this elsewhere but i really really loved sorey and mikleos argument in the game.#like i love it so much.#mikleo is angry because sorey wont let him fight for the sake of protecting sorey - and. to be honest. himself. he is much less#in danger of succumbing to malevolence as a sublord - and sorey is angry that mikleo doesnt understand that he doesnt want#him to be put into danger especially for the sake of. Sorey. of all people. he wants mikleo to be safe. much like how#mikleo wants sorey to be safe#and i wish mikleo had been more fussy abt sorey being so. like. 'willing' isnt extreme enough of a word really.#but how he was so willing to make alisha his squire at the sake of his own health and his own life#whereas he outright refused mikleo wanting to be his sublord at every chance. because. well if i were mikleo thatd piss me off so. much#mikleo never blew his casket though even though he wouldve been in the right so u know maybe hes better than me#but i also do genuinely love how mikleo realizes hes lost. Without all of that. and it isnt entirely because of sorey either#i think mikleo does suffer a lot from. hilariously. having a character too ingrained into sorey. much like woman love interests go figure..#so him realizing that his entire life has been with and For sorey and now that he has this destiny & they stand on diverging paths#mikleo doesnt know what his life is supposed to be or what kind of person hes supposed to become. is good. thats good.#and i like it a lot#but oh my god i MISS that argument it like. said so much about sorey and mikleos characters#it pretty much set the stage for soreys self sacrificial tendancies and how he has little regard for his own safety#and mikleos devotion and loyalty. as well as his fear of losing too early the one thing in his life he knows he wont have for long#does this make any sense im just saying words now#idk im still watching maybe itll happen in the next episode!! if it does then DISREGARD EVERYTHING IVE SAID#tho the anime DOES mess up a lot of things -- im not fond of the way the bersy section played out#it isnt bad that its different however some choices feel ... absurd ? to me#ok back to my hw bye!

ultimately i think my insistence on aro positivity honestly is as much a political stance as a personal one.
when i say aro positivity is crucial and that i dislike doomer-ist posts that express sentiments like 'I hate being aro so much I wish I was dead insteadâ it's not because I donât think there can and should be a space for negativity and acknowledging self-hate, or the many ways being aromantic can really suck sometimes. i find that to be very important!
that being said. there is smth here about how self-hate posts are sometimes just arophobia that we inflict on ourselves. and when we put that out into the ether it (intentionally or not) can become arophobia that we inflict on other members of the community. i think there absolutely needs to be a place for negativity and the expression of anger and frustration and self loathing even - these are all good things to talk about because these are things that we experience. that being said, it can also be genuinely upsetting and triggering to people to have what is essentially arophobia shown to them and then have that be validated by other aspec people. your personal thoughts can affect your wider community on a level you may not anticipate. and i understand it i truly do! it took me so long to be able to recover from accepting being aroace - it threw my entire world off kilter and made me question everything about my place in the world.
but my insistence on aro joy and positivity is because ultimately i do believe that building is at the core essence of it all. that ultimately discussions and the purpose of community should be about construction, not destruction. and this is both a personal and a political stance. talking about how much you hate yourself and cultivating online discussions/spaces where negativity about aspec identity is the main and only theme is destructive - if thatâs where we let the conversation end. these thoughts can and should be used as a vehicle to look for a path forward!
joy and positivity create a space where the focus can become on forging a path forward, on construction, on community building instead of tearing ourselves and others down with negative thoughts. itâs not productive or healthy when it stops at a place of negativity - it becomes actively destructive to the essence of community.
and i do think that this is especially poignant considering the fact that being any kind of queer, but especially aromantic (and/or asexual) means forging a path for yourself and making your own happiness where there is no obvious way forward. our communities exist mostly online (right now, anyway), there is little recognition of our existence in the real world, the effects of amatonormativity are both pervasive and actively dehumanising, and there are legal, economic and social structures in place actively making our lives more difficult. yes that all sucks! itâs good to acknowledge that. we need to in order to change it. but more importantly, thatâs not the end. we are still here and our happiness, our future is for us to determine. even if we canât change the laws or society, loving yourself and understanding aromanticism as a political identity (as well as personal), as a radical worldview, and as a protest against amatonormativity is essential for both community and personal well being. the personal is political.
tldr. i guess my point is that as a community, we should focus on building, improving, and nurturing ourselves and each other (construction) as opposed to destruction. we should recognise aromanticism and asexuality as political identities as well as personal ones and rely on community and self-love in the absence of anything else as a form of protest and political power. destruction (the recognition of everything that is wrong) is essential as a starting point - but where do we go from there? we rebuild.
#aromantic#aro positivity#aspec#aroace#aro#aromantic joy#arospec#when i saw its important to 'love' yourself - pls understand i am in no way trying to exclude loveless aros from this#that was just the easiest way to express what i meant! when i say 'love' i mean positivity/respect/happiness. etc. i just used that word bc#it works for ME which is why i said it. but feel free to replace it with whatever works for you! <2#also sorry if not everything im saying makes total sense i tried my best#this is something ive been thinking about for a while and have been struggling to articulate#i maybe should have read some theory for this abt community building but im too tired + overwhelmed w school reading right now so sorry.#if anyone has additions on that front though please do add them#also ngl im kinda scared to post this. i hope i explained what i mean well enough. like i get wanting to vent and express self hate BUT.#there is nuance to this and it is not unilaterally healthy i think. also i dont see any other online community fostering the normalisation#of selfhate the way the aspec one does! which makes me feel weird abt it especially.#anyway. this is basically my personal philosophy towards aromanticism#mossy posts#âď¸

okay i Finally feel like i have the time and energy to get back to genshin
itâs a small thing early on in the tcg grand prix thing but i thought it was interesting
so when kaeya greets charlotte, he says âenchantĂŠeâ
which is initially in line with him being a smooth talking kind of guy
but since charlotte is from fontaine, which is mostly based on france, heâs probably just greeting her in her national language, which is really thoughtful and respectful of him
i just thought that was neat :0
#genshin impact#french interacting with english is difficult to figure out bc so many french words are loaned into english#so like it's hard to pinpoint whether they're actually trying to do a french thing specifically or if it's just coincidence#bc you Can say that as a fully english person and no one would really bat an eye. other than thinking you're kinda stuffy and pompous#there is something to be said that most of the regional language stuff is translated into english in genshin unless its like a title or nam#like no one says greetings in their national language elsewhere - any change in greeting or any idioms are still in english/common#so this is probably just a matter of coincidence that felt in-character for kaeya and charlotte happened to be from anime france#i still think it's cool >:3#cuz im a language nerd and i like that genshin plays with language a lot#edit now that i've gone to liyue...and finished the rest in general dkdhdj#charlotte being called 'mademoiselle' makes sense too since its more respect toward her#but it is also more of a title. though i can't think of another region that does a thing like that#it is weird now that i think about it how inconsistently genshin sprinkles in foreign honorifics#like again. french is part of english. we're used to it#and the few times they use things like 'sama' and 'sensei' in inazuma/japanese its only not weird bc we're all weebs here#liyue i can somewhat understand because we don't know anything about chinese culture and language in eng#but mondstadt is german. which is the other big part of english. you would think there would be more language representation#other than fischl and venti's lyre and a couple other small things there really isn't much#it's just baseline fantasy land mostly in english#its not like people in mondstadt go around calling each other by Herr and Frau. or anyone in inazuma using -san or -chan even#like if those ever do happen. its an edge case. it isn't strict. so i wonder if fontaine is more strict in its etiquette#anyway. rambled for a good bit#point being i think it's weird but not unwarranted that french is being used more compared to other languages in everyday use here

why didn't they just use franziska for literally all of this.
#freya talks aai2#my goals of not being a forgotten/forsaken hater are not going well. he goes from 'kay is a dear ACQUAINTANCE' to 'i've not known her for#very long but i know she'd never kill anyone' to 'you are the kay i know so well' in the span of a few hours and it's like.#okay so you know it was too early in their acquaintanceship for this to really make sense but you still wanted a 'deep' and 'meaningful'#relationship to take the lead in this plotline. his sister is literally right there. it wouldnt have been hard to swap her in either because#she's literally investigating the smuggling situation. it would make perfect sense for her to be there following a lead instead of suddenly#revealing kay's promise notebook went missing. im not saying that the super-gentle super-meek persona would have made more sense with#franziska but honestly it wouldnt have made sense with any of them because it's more a caricature of a character rather than being an actual#previously unseen facet of one but you could've done so many more interesting things with franziska! she has an actual personal stake in#edgeworth's decision to continue as a prosecutor or not and we could get actual insight into how her own relationship with prosecuting and#its inextricable link to her father has affected her as a person. like when you show amnesiac kay the prosector badge all she says is that#it feels heroic warm and familiar like someone she knew used to show it to her often. and like cool. it's basically telling us she and her#father were close. which we already knew. imagine if franziska had said something like that or had had a more complex reaction. there would#be so many avenues to go with that!! you'd even be able to delve deeper into what edgeworth thinks about it all. like what if franziska was#just. happier. without her memories. then you'd have a story where edgeworth has to reckon with whether it might be kinder to let her live a#different life where she's unburdened by literally everything she's been made to go through and give her the same opportunity of starting#over that he now has.#im just writing fanfiction at this point but like. the amnesia plot is so frustrating to me HAHA they dont even do anything interesting with#it!! it's just oh she's lost her memories and we need to get them back because she's not 'herself' anymore without any discussion of like.#the nature of identity or living as who other people know you as vs whoever you might actually be#WHEN THE WHOLE CASE IS ABOUT EDGEWORTH DECIDING ON HIS PATH FORWARDS AND GRAPPLING WITH BEING THE PROSECUTOR EVERYONE HAS KNOWN HIM AS#whatever. WHATEVER.#annotations#some people might argue so it's not rehashing old conflict between franziska and edgeworth and like ok. she literally repeats her 'are you#running away from me again' line during this case. does that sound like the words of resolved conflict?#i know WHY they use kay. it's because they need to justify her place in this game and because they want to play on the pseudo father-figure#thing they played up in aai2 to contribute to the overall themes of fatherhood this game is dealing with. and to that i have to say that i#might just not be the audience for it because i've never bought that version of their relationship and i dont think kay should be in aai2#anyway. plus i posit that franziska would've still worked for that theme because. literally everything. about her.

HEY! Just because I am now 20 I think having something to kind of re establish boundaries would be good! Considering the ones I put all those times ago have changed :D GENERAL RULES! Do not be racist, sexist, homophobic, antisemitic, ableist, or discriminatory against anyone for any reason. Please if someone is calling you out for things you have done or said, please self-reflect and take the proper steps to change or remove yourself from the community. If you see something you do not like, and it IS MADE WORSE BY BRINGING ATTENTION TO IT, THEN IGNORE IT! Bringing attention to problems that just arent really problems with either the community or me in general are not worth it! Please use common sense when thinking about what/what not to engage with! I personally wish that people in the community do NOT engage with people who just obviously do not like me! Chances are they want a reaction from it so it is MUCH better to just not argue with someone whos mind you will not change! ALLOW CRITICISM OF ME AND MY CONTENT! IF YOU DONT AGREE OR DONT LIKE THEN DO NOT ARGUE ABOUT IT!!!! ALL IT WILL DO IS CAUSE UNESSICARY DRAMA!!! DO NOT make ANY comments or content about me that is explicitly sexual. I completely understand that lately there have been bits due to the changes in how Iâve been presenting myself and how Iâve been presenting more femininely, but that does not allow anyone to use that as an excuse to sexualize any features and such that are more feminine or masculine. Remember that femininity is not sexual and should not be seen or created as such just because its there! (for example, the Vtuber costume and chat being overly weird over the added boobs where there was no need for it). DO NOT draw me in ways that are sexual either, such as highlighting any aspects in a sexual way, or making the content something sexual. I am completely okay with being drawn as any body type, masculine presenting or feminine presenting, as long as you stick to this! PLEASE DO NOT SPECULATE ABOUT MY PERSONAL LIFE!!! Making jokes about certain topics CAN be fine, but a line is crossed when it becomes a legitimate speculation or if a joke is said when I have expressed my discomfort! RESPECT MY FRIENDS!!! All of my friends are their own, incredible people. And they do not deserve to be lumped in or referred to as JUST "my friend". Be respectful in their chats even when im not there, and be respectful to all of them everywhere else! IF SOMEONE IS TRYING TO INFORM YOU THAT YOU MAY BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG PLEASE LISTEN!!! There has been a lot of times in which I have seen people be unwilling to change in the face of a genuine discussion, and that is not something I want in the community! I should NOT have to police every single thing because it should NOT take me saying something in order to change your mind! As my words are not worth more or less when it comes to a lot of subjects! And lastly, do good. Whenever you have the ability to. BE POSITIVE!!! The hater mindset is very draining and can be very toxic to both you and the people around you, so highlight the good instead of the bad if you have the ability to! I am so incredibly proud of how far this community has come, and I cannot wait for the future!!! I have spent some time writing this, but it may not be perfect, so I will update this as time goes on and I think of more, or if something needs to be SUPER cleared up, but for now these are the main ones! I will NOT be updating this after every little thing however, as I do not want you guys to feel like the only way that something is wrong is if I talk about it! As you guys should be able to sustain yourself as a community without my consistent input! Imma go enjoy my birthday by eating a pizza :) thank you all!

Actually, I think I will share the background and meaning behind this one. The brainworms are eating me.
Even if Dante doesn't know exactly what V is to him, I like to think the existence itself of V is sort of proof to Dante that the part of Vergil he thought was forsaken is still there. It's a form of relief to the Dante of DMC1 who thought his brother died a corrupted demon, and especially to the Dante of DMC3 who watched his brother literally fall back into hell, chasing only their father's heritage, and slice the hand that reached for him.
I drew this to capture that feeling. The quote from Elektra, obviously, but Dante is portrayed younger and still bleeding from Vergil's last cut, and V is comforting him. Given that V is the human half that came from their mother, I drew the two of them in this pose, because to me a kiss to the top of the head is more reminiscent of a mother's love- this is the last dregs Vergil has of Eva, coming forward on their own to seek out Dante.
Aah, Capcom, I wonder what they're talking about in hell...
(not ship)
#Also note here that dante's not crying. Neither is V#It's not a true catharsis because this drawing isn't depicting something real#It's not a fix it. It's not something that i wish happened. It's more the concept of them i guess#The idea of the last piece of Eva and the proof of Vergil's humanity mixed together in my mind. V who is both is a comfort to 3dante is wha#-im trying to say#soybean screams#does this make sense? It's a little late for me right now#Idk if i worded this in a way that isnt insane#cuz i felt insane working on this#Usually i limit myself to explaining in the tags the more symbolism/meaning-heavy pieces i make#And I hope you guys dont mind me writing the whole thing out plainly#If anyone reads into this and takes any other interpretation from it i'd be happy to read it too#however it is just a 3hr drawing i did to get the thoughts out of my head#i do hope at least 1 person sees this and gets it tho LOL

When you wear their clothes
genshin men x gn!reader
characters featured: xiao, neuvillette, wriothesley, zhongli and itto
i've been dreaming about genshin a lot lately idk this game has possesed me or smth so i feel like i'm required to write this? Also DAMN im rusty with genshin characters so i apologise profusely for any ooc-ness
(also wrio's is kinda suggestive!!)
XIAO is confused. Why on earth are you wearing his clothes? He isn't opposed to it specifically, but doesn't understand the appeal or the reason why you do it. "My clothes don't fit you properly. What's the point?" he asks, completely straight faced. You smile. "It reminds me of you when you're not with me!" He just scoffs and says he doesn't get your strange habits before moving on with his day. Somehow though, the image of you in his clothes won't leave his mind for the rest of the day. "Dammit..." he mumbles under his breath, barely audible when nobody's around. Don't bring up his pink cheeks in the evening when he comes back to see you, he will not elaborate.
Similarly, NEUVILLETTE is also confused. This must be another human thing that he isn't familiar with. What does wearing their lover's clothes mean to humans? "Oh, I just missed you... your clothes remind me of you, you know?" You explained when he questioned you on the matter. "Oh, I suppose that makes sense. Do you want more items related to myself for when I am absent?" He asks. While you do want to know what items he would bring you, you turn him down. "I like your shirts the most, because they smell like you and feel like your hugs." He doesn't know why exactly, but he has the urge to kiss you all of a sudden.
WRIOTHESLEY feels distracted when he sees you in his clothes from time to time. He gets busy a lot, so the moments he gets to spend with you feel extra special. But, what is he to do when you look so positively yummy in his shirt? "Hey, mind taking my shirt off? It's... sort of distracting." he admits, taking a sip of his tea. "But, wouldn't it be even more distracting if I took it off now?" you asked, feigning an innocent look. He almost spit out his tea. "I did not mean it like that...! Surely you're just teasing me." You just smiled mischeviously in response, taking a sip out of your own cup. "That's what I thought. I know that look."
ZHONGLI thinks you look odd in his clothes. Odd, but not bad by any means. You actually look quite endearing. "I'll make sure to commit this to memory." he says calmly, sitting down next to you on the bed. "You say that every time you're with me." you poke his shoulder gently, smiling up at him. "That's because everything about you is worth remembering, I suppose." Still, he thinks this specific memory is one he will treasure for a long, long time. "Oh my..." you felt heat rushing to your cheeks at his words, hugging his arm. Actually, he changed his mind, you're positively adorable in his clothes.
You're basically asking to get attacked with a flurry of kisses if you wear ITTO'S clothes in front of him. That's like, a show of affection! That you're totally his and no one else's! And that also means it's a cause for celebration! "Agh, Itto- Stop!" you try and fail to push his face away. "Hehehe..." he gives you a bright smile and places a big ol' kiss on your lips. "You should wear my clothes more often!!!" he felt proud of himself, puffing out his chest. "Ummm, whatever you say..." you're kind of worried that if you do that, your face will never escape his lips.

hi!! i saw your requests were open but i was wondering if youâd do a high maintenance reader w any of the marauders?? i just realized that i got my hair done, my eyelashes done, my nails done, and a facial all within a week and now im crying because i canât afford my lifestyle, and also because i didnât realize i was considered high maintenance until now :/
âWeâre not having this conversation again, angel.â James says as he holds your hand on the walk back to the car.
You frown, catching a glimpse at your nails and smiling before frowning again. âBut Jamie, itâs every month!â
He opens the back door for you, letting you slide in before he gets in himself.
Remus is driving while Sirius sits in the passenger seat, hair held back a bun thatâs not very effective but makes him all the more handsome.
âItâs not a problem, sweet girl.â James steals a kiss. âWe donât mind.â Remus catches a glimpse at you in the rear view mirror.
âWhatâs wrong dove?â You pout, not really upset with them but upset at what you realized halfway through your nail appointment.
âAll three of you always pay for my things,â All the boys frown, they donât see the issue. You sigh, your fists banging on your exposed knees under your skirt.
âEvery time I have an appointment, one of you comes just to pay. Doesnât that make you feel gross? Like youâre just here to maintain me?â
Sirius turns to face you first. Heâs not the best with words, but heâs always able to get to you faster than the other boys.
âWhy would we feel gross about taking care of you? Youâre not a thing to maintain and even if we do pay for your things it doesnât mean itâs a burden.â
Remus nods at Siriusâ words, âWe donât come just to pay either. We like seeing you get all dolled up, lovely girl. Itâs a treat for us as much as it is for you.â
You roll your eyes, disbelieving, âJust this week, Iâve done my hair, had a facial, got waxed and did my nails and you all paid for something.â
Remus nods, driving effortlessly while holding your eyes in the rear view. âWe like taking care of you dove. You never ask for us to do it, we just do because it makes us feel good.â
James nods, lips to your temple. âIt does. So what if you go do a million procedures a month? Just as long as we get to finance it.â
You sigh long and hard, âBut itâs so much.â
Remus shakes his head, voice soothing even as he maneuvers the car through traffic, âBaby, we all argue about who gets to pay for what. Itâs not too much for us, we want to keep doing it.â
Sirius cuts you a hard look from the passenger side when he catches your eye roll, âPoppet,â he leans around the seat to look you in the eyes. âWe like maintaining you. We like spending our money on you when you want to do something, thatâs not an issue to us, got it?â
James speaks softly when you donât answer, âSâlike Remus said, angel. No sense in making yourself feel bad for something weâd practically fight each other to do, yeah?â
You nod, a little bashful under his gaze and when he beckons you forward with his chin, you nearly scramble across the middle seat to kiss him.
Siriusâ hands tangle in your hair and you pull away, âI just got it done yesterday, Siri.â He smiles, all wicked and best pleased.
âAnd you look all the more gorgeous.â He steals another kiss just as Remus pulls up to your brunch destination. âNow câmon, weâve got to show you off after all this.â
Remus turns your face before you get too far, stealing a couple kisses for himself. âNo more worrying about us taking care of you, yeah?â
Youâre dazed and kisses silly, âYeah, Remmy.â James gets his kisses last and you have to wait ten minutes in the backseat before getting out with any of them while you hide a smile.

Working together with your Uncle Stan to build the portal to bring your dad back to the right dimension was tiresome. Nights were sleepless and many of them were spent in the underground lab, where you and Stan did everything possible to assemble the portal. Trying to keep such a secret away from the twins and Soos was unexpectedly hard. The knowledge of hiding someone so vital to you and to your Uncle Stan was weighing down on you and him. Then came the day where his awaited arrival was promised. You could barely sleep that night. You thought of so many different possibilities and scenarios of how you would greet him. Would he remember you? Did he ever miss you? Does he even love you?!
The next day came in like a tornado and before you knew it, you were protectively standing in front of the button; trying your absolute hardest to prevent the twins from pressing the button.
âWhy do you guys want to stop the portal so badly!â You yelled over the loud swirling wind that emitted from the portal. âBecause itâs dangerous!â Dipper retorted, using his arm to shield him from the debris whizzing past him. âG-Grunkle Stan isnât who he says he is!â Dipper said, stepping closer to you.
âWhatever you guys saw or heard isnât what you think it is! Please, you need to believe me.â You begged, your eyes brimming with tears. Youâve worked so hard to get this portal up and running and you werenât going to let Dipper or anyone stop you from being able to see your dad.
Soos came up from behind and wrapped his arms around you. âIâm sorry, dude.â He picked you up and took you away from the button. âSoos, no!â You thrashed around his hold. You pound your fists against his arms, hoping itâll loosen his grip on you but nothing you did worked. No matter how much you begged and fought against him, he didnât budge. He just held you closer to him, muttering âIâm Sorryâ under his breath.
âThis all stops now!â Dipper raised his hand, palm flattened out, ready to push the button when Stan appeared at the doorway. âDonât touch that button!â
Heâs hunched forward, hand leaning on the frame of the doorway as he pants. Relief washes over you upon seeing Stan. Silence fills the room for a minute and all you can hear is your heart hammer against your ribcage. Stan walks towards Dipper, beckoning him to not press the button.
âIf you just let me explainââ Heâs cut off by his watch repeatedly beeping. Suddenly the ground begins to shake.
The portal powers up and the circle enlarges. The electricity spazzes and travels throughout the room, creating streaks of electrical power. Your feet lift off the ground and soon everyoneâs floating up in the air. The wind is fierce and itâs whipping through every direction, pushing you towards the wall.
Dipper yells at Mable to turn off the portal before it causes anymore damage. She tugs herself closer to the button using a stray cable and while she wraps herself around the neck holding up the button, Stan is begging her to listen to him and to not press the button. Heâs soon tackled by Soos who pushes him away from Mable. They all fight with each other and youâre watching with a bated breath.
The portal pulses with power, sending you back first into the wall. Stan and Dipper bicker back and forth and Mable is torn with the decision of either believing her brother or her Grunkle. She lowers her hand, eyes closed and you're almost convinced sheâs going to press the button when she lets go of the button. She floats up with her arms raised. âGrunkle Stan, I believe you.â She says.
âMable, are you crazy?! Weâre all gonnaâ!â
The world flashes white and you're immediately knocked out. You awaken to yourself plummeting face first down to the floor. You groan, pushing yourself up with one hand and the other wiping off the dust on your face. Looking around you can see your family scattered around the room, each of them slowly waking up from whatever happened and stumbling back to their feet.
Your head quickly whips towards the portal and your heart lurches into your throat upon seeing a figure step out of it. He stands still, staring straight ahead as he takes off his hood and goggles. And what hid behind them was your father.
After the initial shock of meeting the one behind the three books and the reveal of him being related to Stan was pushed aside, you presented yourself with the help of Stan. âH-Hi, Dad.â You awkwardly greet yourself.
His eyes stop on you and he freezes, eyes blown wide and mouth slightly ajar. He takes a minute to process the absurdity of the situation before heâs snapping back to consciousness. He blinks once, his mouth stuttering as he finds the right words to say. He then blinks again, stepping a cautious step towards you. Your name softly spills out of his mouth and your heart soars hearing your Dad finally utter your name again.
You take a step forward and then another and another until youâre face to face with him. Being closer to him allowed you to see how much he has aged since the last time you saw him. âDadâŚâ You whisper, throwing yourself into him.
A light wheeze escapes his mouth from the sudden impact of your body crashing on him. Once he recovers, his arms are quickly wrapped around you, hugging you with so much warmth and love you almost sobbed right then and there.
He snuggled his face against your hair, breathing in your familiar scent he missed so dearly while he was away. âWe have so much to catch up on.â You say so quietly that he almost lost your words if it wasnât for you being directly near his ear. He hums in affirmation, cherishing the long awaited reunion with his daughter.
âI feel like this is another part where one of us faints again.â Mable says in utter disbelief at the scene that unfolded in front of her. âOhoh!â Soos laughed out. âIâm so on it, dudes.â As if on command his eyes roll to the back of his head and he faints flat on his back.
HEADCANON TIME!!
⢠You werenât really expecting to talk to him much due to Stan wanting to talk to his brother, but after their fight, he came looking for you. When he found you, you were sitting on the couch that was outside on the porch. You were reading a book you recently purchased from the bookstore. Nose deep in your book, you failed to realize Ford standing beside you. His hands were shoved in the pockets of his trench coat. Quietly he asked, âIs there room for one more?â
⢠The night was spent with the two of you getting to know each other. From your favorite color to your favorite show, what food you like to eat and so on. Ford wanted to fully understand and know you as a person. He wanted to make up all the years he lost with you.
⢠The next day, you awoke to the smell of your favorite breakfast food being cooked. With haste you pushed your blanket off of you and slipped on your slippers and sped off into the kitchen where Ford was buttering the pan. He looked over to you and flashed you a smile. âI made you your favorite.â He said, motioning over to the table where he laid out your breakfast. âYou didnât have to do this.â You scratched your cheek, a small laugh of surprise leaving you. âIâm just doing what I always dreamed of doing.â He shoveled out his breakfast onto his plate using a spatula. âHowâs the food, kiddo?â He asks, placing the pan and spatula on the dirty side of the sink. âActually pretty good for someone who hasn't been in this dimension for over a decade!â You jest, taking another delicious bite from your breakfast. Ford jokingly rolled his eyes, ruffling your hair as he walked past you and sat down on his chair. âAlready poking fun at me.â He said, shaking his head.
⢠Stanford knew he had to focus on his projects, he had so many things he left unfinished that he'd been dying to get his hands on the minute he stepped foot into his dimension. But he couldnât seem to pull himself away from you. He loved seeing you interact with the twins, he loved watching how pieces of his personality shone through you. Like the way youâre so meticulous with where you put things, or how you were forever curious about the things around you, and even the abundance of questions youâd mutter to yourself as you discovered something new. Thatâs all of him right there, in front of him and he couldnât grasp such a thought that you were his!
⢠He finds himself gazing upon baby photos Stan took of you when you were younger. Even if heâs angry at his twin currently, heâs forever grateful that he documented such beautiful memories in a scrapbook. âYâknow, I used to tell stories about you to her.â A shriek leaves Ford. He jumps forward, the scrapbook tumbling down his lap and onto the floor. âYou idiot! Be careful.â Stan sneered, kneeling down to the floor to pick up the scrapbook. âStanley!â Ford leans his head back, trying to regain his composure. âYou scared me!â He says. âYeah, yeah. I know.â Stan waves him off, grabbing the scrapbook and tucking it in between his arms. They stand in awkward silence, eyes darting around the place uneasily. âDidâŚâ Ford starts, shattering the silence. âDid she like the stories you told of me?â Stan smiles fondly, nodding his head. âShe loved them. She thought you were some stupid amazing superhero, no matter what I told her.â Ford furrowed his brows. âWait, what do you mean by no matter what you told her?â Stan nervously laughed. âHey, why donât you keep looking at these photos! Wait here, look at this one. Haha! Sheâs trying to eat her toes, isnât that adorable?â âStanley.â
⢠Outings between the two of you were very common. He loved being tugged around the town of Gravity Falls by you as you pointed at various different shops and locations. You told him the reasons why you hated them or loved them, and some were tied to stories that happened within the summer. He seriously questioned how you and the twins survived so many times where you were just so close to death. The mall was a place where you and him resided the most. With the money he took from Stan, he paid for almost everything you wanted. Entering the shack with so many bags was a shock to everyone. âWoah! Did you buy the whole mall?â Mable jokes, grabbing one of the bags to help you with the load. âBasically,â you laughed, instructing Mable to rally Soos and Dipper to have a little haul of what you bought. Stan watched with a raised brow as you stumbled into the living room with Mable following closely behind. âWhere did you get all the money to buy her all of that?â Stan asks. âJust stole some money from some hobo.â Ford said, walking into the living room to join in on the haul. Stan didnât understand what he said and opened the cash register. When he saw all the money he had stored the day before gone, it all clicked.
⢠Adventures out in the woods is a must. Gathering the twins and your dad, all four of you venture out into the woods in hopes to find something new. âWhy couldnât Grunkle Stan tag along with us?â Mable asked as she kneeled down to pluck a flower from the dirt. âBecause heâs being a wet towel.â Dipper muttered, scribbling down a rough drawing of the flower Mable was picking in a book you bought him. âSo what kind of anomalies you three stumbled upon?â Ford questioned. You and the twins began to dump everything onto him, from when you started seeing them to when Dipper and Mable came. Ford couldnât truly focus on what they were saying, mostly because it was a jumbled excited mess of words, but partially because he was astonished with the trio in front of him. They went through so much and yet theyâre still so headstrong. He could definitely see a little bit of him in Dipper and Mable.
⢠Stan would find you and Ford fallen asleep on the couch or in his lab, all huddled up together and completely knocked out. Snores filled the room and he found it amusing that you and him both snores the same. Videos and photos were definitely taken by Mable.
⢠Ford would tell stories of his adventures in another dimension to you. Stemming from how he started from the ground up to him getting banned from many other dimensions for stealing parts. âYouâre not so different from Uncle Stan,â You laughed, shaking your head. âWhat! It was only a fewâŚhundred dimensions.â
⢠Thereâs times where youâd wake up in a cold sweat, afraid that your Dad finally coming back was just a painful dream your brain played on you. But when you would get ready to find him, youâd step on his stomach or back. âOugh!â Ford groaned out in pain. Being suddenly woken up from his sleep, he sat up, looking around confused. âWhat are you doing sleeping on the floor?â You sat back down on your bed, pulling the blankets over you. âIs there a problem with me sleeping on the floor?â Ford asks, looking at you with squinted eyes. âNo, no.â You laid back down on your bed. âGo back to sleep. Iâm better now,â You say, somewhat amused with Ford sleeping on the floor beside your bed. âGoodnight, I love you.â You brush your fingers playfully across his face to annoy him. He shoves your fingers away from his face, huffing out. âGoodnight,â He shuffles to his side, looking up to you with a small smile. âI love you more, kiddo.â

â no such thing as too perfect // jeon wonwoo
wonwoo x gn!reader, 2k+ words
tags: office au, established relationship, fluff, kinda crack, junhui is the best work bestieTM ever, yn is Dramatic and In Love
warnings: none
notes: this was only meant to be like, 1.2k.... idk what happened but im not apologising. also there are a couple of pov switches which i hope make sense!!
âI think I need to break up with him,â you say, and Junhui blinks around a mouthful of salad.Â
âWho?â he asks, spraying pieces of feta cheese all over the table, and you wrinkle your nose and brush away a few bits that get too close to you and your bento box. He frowns, and then his eyes widen. âOh my god, you need to break up with Jeon Wonwoo? Why do you need to break up with Jeon Wonwoo?â
You wince as Junhui's loud exclamation rings throughout the office canteen, making several heads turn to look at the two of you.Â
âDon't yell it so loudâand why are you saying his name in italics?â
âBecause this is Jeon Wonwoo,â Junhui emphasises again, shoving salad passionately into his mouth before carrying on talking. âHe's the only one of your boyfriends that I've actually ever approved of. Which is crazy, because Soonyoung introduced him to you, and I've never pinned Soonyoung as a guy that knows boyfriend-material guys.â
You reach over and lower Junhuiâs fork, preventing him from eating and talking at the same time. âI don't know,â you sigh. âI just⌠I don't think this is going to work.â
âWhat did he do?â Junhui asks. His face morphs into a more serious look. âDo I need to murder him for you?â
âNo, Iâ no! Don't murder him!â you say quickly, shaking your head. âHe hasn't done anything wrong. It's just. I think I need to break up with him.â
The grave look melts from Junhui's face, and then he frowns. âYou need to break up with him⌠even though he hasn't done anything wrong?â
âYes.â
Junhui stares at you, mystified, then snatches back his fork to keep eating his salad. âOkay, so you've gone insane. Nice to know.â
You sigh at Junhui's response, rubbing your temples.Â
Whilst it does sound insane for you to break up with Wonwoo even though he's done nothing wrong, in your eyes, it's actually quite understandable.Â
Nothing has gone wrong, per se: you've been dating Wonwoo for about ten months now, and everything has been perfect. He's been perfect.Â
Maybe⌠a little too perfect.Â
He's always being so gentle and courteous, silently reading your emotions and knowing exactly how you're feeling at any given moment. He knows what you need before you even know that you need itâgiving you little cheek kisses to remind you that you're loved, pushing a chocolate bar into your hand when you're all dizzy and tired, hugging you to sleep when you've had a bad day.Â
The bento box that you're opening and having for lunch? That was prepared by him too.Â
Jeon Wonwoo is just so goddamn perfect, and it worries you.Â
âI don't think I'm good enough for him,â you admit whilst Junhui is busily sipping his water.Â
It's fascinating how he manages to eat so frantically whilst eating so slowly at the same time, you think idly, as Junhui chokes on the tiny sip he was taking. He sets down the glass, wiping his mouth and blinking at you.Â
âSorry, what?â
âCome on, Junhui, do I really have to say it again?â you complain, beginning to open your bento box. âYou heard me.â
âYeah, and I couldn't believe my ears,â he says, tilting his head sideways. âYou? Not good enough for him? Please. That's crazy.â
You make a questioning noise. âYou just said that he's the only boyfriend of mine that you approved of.â
âExactly.â Junhui stabbed his fork in your direction, before going back to shovelling leaves into his mouth. âYou're perfect for him, and he's perfect for you. I predicted it from the moment you met.â
âI don't know about me being perfect for him, but he really is just too perfect for me,â you whine. âHim and his stupidly warm eyes and that smile⌠oh, Junhui, he makes me feel like the most beautiful person in this entire universe.â You look down at your bento box, pouting. âWonwoo's just so perfect.â
Junhui makes a face. âGross, but okay. I still don't see your point, though. Wonwoo's perfect, and you're both good enough for each other. I don't see why you think you need to break up with him.â
Still looking down at the bento box, you let out a sigh. All of the food is neatly packed away into the separate compartments, and he's even arranged the sesame seeds on your rice into a little heart. It's an awfully goofy but also an awfully Wonwoo thing to do, and you can feel your heart squeezing painfully in your chest, the longer you stare at it.Â
This is not good. You are far too in love with Wonwoo.Â
That's what you tell Junhui, and he stares at you with utter disbelief as if you've finally admitted that you really have lost your mind.Â
âAnd what makes you think that he's not far too in love with you?â Junhui asks. âYou know, one of the reasons that I approve of Wonwoo is because he's just so so in love with you. Like, almost disgustingly in love with you.â
âWhat?â You blink at him, before shaking your head. âJunhui, no, this is serious. Wonwoo's just so perfect and I'm so in love with him andâand it's actually getting dangerous now. I've literally fallen in love with him.â
Junhui stares at you for a long moment, wondering whether you're actually being serious about all of this.Â
âThat's not a bad thing,â he insists, and then chomps on his salad in frustration. âY/N, that's not a bad thing at all.â
âYes it is,â you say, despairingly, looking forlorn as you prop your chin on your hand. âI love him too much. It's gonnaâit's gonna get too overwhelming, soon, and then he'll start thinking I'm weird, and he'll distance himself from me, and then we'll break up and I should end this before that happens.â
Junhui shakes his head. âI don't think that's true.â
âYes it is.â
âNo it isn't. He won't break up with you.â
âNot yet.â
Junhui looks away exasperatedly, because you're adamant in wallowing in your despair over having to break up with Wonwoo because âhe's too perfectâ even while quite happily eating the lunch that Junhui knows Wonwoo probably prepared for you.Â
It's insane, he thinks, because it's obvious to him that Wonwoo loves you a lot. But he knows you and your negative thinking, and short of Wonwoo walking in here and professing his love to you all by himself, Junhui can't think of anything that could possibly convince you otherwise.Â
As he looks past your shoulder to the glass doors of the office canteen, however, he blinks.Â
There's a tall man entering the canteen, his dark hair all fluffy and his glasses-rimmed eyes scanning the area, lips pursed into a look that could almost be described as bored. He has his hands in his coat pockets, wearing the most simple casual fit ever, but he exudes such cold model energy that even Junhui blinks again.Â
And then he watches as the man catches sight of you and Junhui, and his entire demeanour just softens.Â
Junhui bites back a grin.Â
Wow. Maybe heâs, like, actually psychic.Â
âWonwoo's here,â he says abruptly, and your head snaps up so fast that he can hear the audible click that sounds in your neck.Â
âWhere?âÂ
Junhui doesn't get to say anything, however, because he sees the moment that your eyes clock the tall man that's striding into the canteen, the light catching the frames of his glasses, and watches as you positively melt, in much the same way that the man had done when he saw you.Â
He can almost hear every infatuated thought that runs through your mind.Â
âWonwoo,â you breathe, once Wonwoo steps close enough to the table that you and Junhui are eating at. His hair is all fluffy and windswept, and you resist the urge to smooth it down with your fingers.Â
âHello.â Wonwoo bends down, presses a soft kiss to your forehead. âYou weren't answering your phone.â
âHm? I didn't get any text notifs from you.â You check your phone, trying to turn it on, only for the screen to remain black. âOh. Is it dead?â
âI suspected as much,â Wonwoo says dryly, but there's a fondness in his voice as he pulls out a power bank from his pocket. âHere.â
Your eyes light up. âOh, you're a life saver!â You look up at Wonwoo, smiling at the way his eyes look so warm as he gazes down at you. âThank you.â
Junhui slurps his water loudly.Â
âSorry,â he says, sounding not sorry at all when the two of you look over at him. âDon't mind me.â
He's grinning mischievously, for reasons that you cannot fathom, and when he leans forward to peer up at Wonwoo with curious eyes, the mischief in his grin only increases.Â
âSo, Wonwoo, why are you here?â
Wonwoo tilts his head, pushing his glasses up at the same time. âYou're Junhui.â
âThe one and only,â Junhui says brightly. âI'm Y/N's work bestie. I've heard loads about you.â
You hiss in annoyance, kicking Junhui under the table even as Wonwoo laughs amusedly, placing a hand on your shoulder affectionately.Â
âWen Junhui! Why would you say that?â
âDo you talk about me that often?â Wonwoo asks, and his tone is somewhere between genuinely curious and adoring and you kind of just wanna sit there and listen to his voice forever.Â
âOh, all the time,â Junhui says, eyes gleaming, and you snap your gaze back to him, exasperated. âY/N loves you so much. I hear about the extent of it every day.â
Wonwoo looks down at you, raising an eyebrow. âReally?â
You kind of want to deny it, but then that would mean lying to Wonwoo, so you don't.Â
âMaybe?â you say weakly, cheeks burning as you smile sheepishly up at him. âYou're just, uh. Really really lovely. And, um, I kind of love you. A lot.â
Wonwoo laughs, a full and endeared laugh, twinkling with the light of a thousand suns. âI'm glad. Because you're really lovely, and I love you a lot too.â
Your eyes widen, and suddenly it's like it's just you and Wonwoo in the canteen now, him with his hand on your shoulder and those eyes, holding your very soul in place as he just smiles so lovingly and oh God you really do love him.Â
âOh,â you say, soft. âWonwooâŚâ
Wonwoo just smiles again. âAnyways, I came by to let you know that I'll be finishing work a bit earlier today, so call me when you're done and I'll drive by to pick you up, okay?â
You nod, mute, stunned by the gentlest words of âI love youâ that had left Wonwoo's mouth just seconds before.Â
âIt was nice meeting you,â Junhui chirps, but Wonwoo doesn't seem to hear, because he's looking down at you again, before swooping in and placing the lightest kiss on your nose and you feel like you could combust on the spot right there.Â
âI'll see you later?â he says.Â
You nod. âI'll see you later.â
Wonwoo smiles, and then the hand slides off your shoulder and he walks away.Â
You watch him go, watch him walk through the tables and then get to the glass doors, where he turns around one last time to wave goodbye before disappearing outside, and really, it's insane how much you love him.Â
And how much he loves you, it seems.Â
âSo. He took time out of his own lunch break and came all the way here to give you a charger because he knew that you'd forgotten one and to tell you that he's picking you up later?â Junhui says, making you reluctantly turn back to him. âY/N. If this doesnât make you see just how in love with you Wonwoo is, then Iâm gonna kick you.â
âHey, no need for violence,â you say, raising an eyebrow, and Junhui pulls a face.Â
âSo do you see it or do you not?â
You look over your shoulder again, out at the doors. Wonwooâs no longer there, but you can still imagine the imprint of his warmth, lingering like the softest lavender scent over the entire area.Â
âMaybe I do,â you say, all wistful and dazed, a smile on your face. âIsnât he just so perfect?â
Junhui grins, and makes use of your distracted state to steal a carrot stick from your lunch, crunching on it loudly.
âPerfect and in love with you,â he points out. âSo do you still feel like you need to break up with him?â
âHm?â
You blink, eyes still all starry from your few minutes of interacting with your boyfriend, his soft smile etched into your mind. It takes a moment for Junhui's words to register, but then they do, and you can't help but laugh.Â
âOh. Oh, no. He and I are perfect.â
Junhui grins. He really is a psychic.Â

ŕźşâĄŕźť
Jungkook's growling stomach diverts his attention from the five page essay he's been trying to work on but barely has written a word. Blaming it on his hunger, he gets and up and decides to make himself some white sauce pasta also known as his comfort food. His mom used to make him when he was a child back in the days just so he can get done with his homework without making her work for it.
When he got into a fight in seventh standard and came back home with a nasty cut under his lip, his mom made it again. It's been his go to ever since.
"Shit" as soon as he enters the kitchen though, he realizes that he ran out of pasta last week when his friends came over.
Picking up his car keys he drives up to his closest supermarket. The lady behind the counter smiling at him as per usual. She must be around 60 year old and every time Jungkook has stopped by to pick anything up, she has been super sweet to him. Not to mention how badly she wants him to meet her granddaughter. He wonders if her granddaughter knows about her grandmother trying to set her up with a stranger.
"How you doin' today, boy?"
"Hey miss Cathy, you having a good day?"
"So far so good" Jungkook walks further inside the store and searches for the pasta packet he came here for. When he spots it, he reaches for it unaware of the hand that goes for the very same packet.
The vanilla and caramel like scent hits him like a truck and when he looks beside him, he freezes. The girl which stares back at him has brown hair which matches the color of her striking eyes. There are freckles all over her nose and cheekbones making it look like a group of stars decided to make a home there on her face. Her glossy lips are parted in surprise, her almond shaped eyes wide. Why does he feel warm all of a sudden? Is the air conditioner off?
"hello?" her voice breaks him off his trance. The girl's eyes have gone narrower now.
"I need the packet." He hears her say again. As beautiful as she might be and as badly as he wanted to get on his knees and.. no !! not going there, he couldn't let her take the pasta. Not when it's about his essay. if he doesn't finish it soon his professor is going to have his head on a platter.
"Oh no no no no no no, I need this and I saw it first so I'm getting this"
"Okay first of all that doesn't make any sense. People can see it things from outside the store, does that mean they own it? plus can you not buy it from some other store?"
now he was getting irritated. she had the audacity to look so gorgeous and on top of that she was fighting over a pasta packet?
"It does. No matter how badly you need it, I need it more."
The girl takes a step forward, "Listen, I have no idea what do you need it for and not that I'm interested but I have to make my little sister her favorite pasta with extra cheese or she is not going to leave me and my boyfriend alone."
See, Jungkook is a simple guy. He likes something and he goes for it. If it was some other place, maybe his college or a restaurant, he would have approached the gal and asked for her number oh so politely but this right here? It's a war and he hates losing. No matter how cute the opponent is.
"I'm sure you can persuade her with a popsicle or two. you can find them at the counter right there" he points towards the counter. "Now let me have the pasta because I need to eat my weight in it so that I can finish my essay and be done with it, alright?"
She scoffs, "You're infuriating you know that?"
"Heard somebody call me that once but I believe they were looking for the word 'lovable'" he shrugs and snatches the packet before making his way to the counter silently hoping miss Cathy does not mention her granddaughter again.
The pretty girl yells behind him, "HEY!! WHAT ARE YOU? 5?"
He places the item on the counter and pays the amount before walking out of the store. God, he was starving. Much to his disappointment, someone calls him out.
"Boy, wait!!!" Fuck, it's Miss Cathy again.
He turns towards her forcing himself to smile, "Yes, ma'am?"
"You know my granddaughter-"
"Miss Cathy, I wish I could give you a minute but I'm actually in a hurry. You see, my brother is visiting with his two year old and it's been a long journey for him and he's starving and I need to-"
Jungkook tried his best to lie through his teeth, he really does until a voice interrupts him. That very same voice.
"Really now? And here I thought somebody was so hungry, they started twitching just by the thought of someone else having that packet of pasta" the pretty girl in yellow sundress folds her arm over chest. "Does she know her tits push up when she does that?" Jungkook thinks.
She continues, "Grans, I didn't know you let liars into your shop?"
Wait, WHAT?! Did she just call Miss Cathy "Grans"? Would you look at that? They weren't lying about the world being small. Who would have guess that the girl he's been trying to avoid is the same girl he can't ever avoid for the life of him.
Miss Cathy's loud wheeze echoes through the store, "Trust me y/n, he's a good fella. Jungkook, this is my granddaughter, y/n. The prettiest, my girl."
She looks so proud while introducing her and rightfully so, if she were his, he would also take pride in that. Minus the pasta fight, though. The thought scares the shit out of him and maybe that's why he runs. His feet move rapidly not stopping until he's facing his car in the parking lot.
How the hell did he even let that thought enter his mind? One minute he was sneering at her and now he wanted to make her his? He began imagining what would it be like to call her, his? Quickly starting the engine he drives himself to his apartment. Later that night, he takes a cold shower and fucks his hand while thinking about the same vanilla and caramel scent.
ŕźşâĄŕźť

Jungkook has always loved being alone, his solitude has been something which he absolutely appreciated. Being the eldest son of his family he's been the one to pick up everyone's pieces but when it came to him, nobody served that purpose so he ran. Ran away from his home, from the chaos, the noise and most importantly the responsibilities. That's not to say that he's a quitter but when you have a father sitting on your chest all the time and making it extremely hard for you to live your life, you might as well be called one. He chose his peace and he does not regret anything about it.
Unfortunately though, he left something very precious back home and as much as it hurt him to do so, he knew he couldn't not escape.
The room is quiet enough that he can hear his heart beating straight out of his chest and his breathing turning ragged. When he came back from his early morning run he did not expect to find a wedding invitation in the mail box. he wasn't even planning on checking the damn mailbox if it wasn't for the small part of him wanting to do so.
The man had the whole day planned and now he was standing in the middle of the hall feeling like somebody dropped a huge rock on his chest and said "deal with it" with a piece of paper in his hand he can't wait to burn or tear into pieces. He needs to sit down.
He unlocks his phone and finds your number at the very top of his dial list. You guys were talking last night only about your studio being renovated and it confuses him to the core as to why you didn't mention anything about your wedding.
"Hey, what's up?" your voice greets him, cheery as always.
"You're getting married?" the words seem bitter on his tongue.
"Oh my god, finally. You got the invitation" a dagger through his stomach would hurt less right now. He runs his fingers through his hair, messing them up and continues.
"Were you ever going to tell me about it?"
"No because I wanted it to be a surprise. I asked Taehyung and Cynthia to do the same as well. Aren't you glad you happened to check your mailbox, huh?"
Jungkook blinks, once and then again. He was having a hard time comprehending all of this. Hadn't he checked the mailbox, would you have gotten married and never told him about it? He was going to throw up. When he replies his voice is brittle.
"Listen, can i call you again? I need to run some errands"
"Sure, but don't-" he hangs up and runs to the bathroom before emptying his stomach.

Sweat drips down from your forehead, your chest moves up and down from how fast your breathing has gone. A moan slips out as you spread your legs a bit wider.
"Just one more aaaaand perfect. Now release" the Pilates instructor's voice reaches to your wet ears. You place yourself down on the mat.
"Fuck, she'll kill me one of these days" Your routine has already been fucked up because of your college exams and after finally being fed up of sticking your nose in the books, you had decided to get on with Pilates. You fell in love with it a year ago.
After working your body in the gym and realizing that high intensity workouts are no good for you, you gave low intensity workouts a chance and boom! The clouds parted and now you're almost in the best shape of your life.
You have never loved your body as much as you do now and if your 13 year old self could look at you, she'd give you a pat on the back. She wouldn't believe that people no longer make fun of her for not having thigh gap or slender arms. Indeed, it took several lunges, roll ups, spine twists, ab burners to get there.
It's not like you have the most anime like body, no. But you have finally stopped beating yourself up over it, accepting the fact that people's negative opinions are just a reflection of their own insecurities.
Your phone pings with a notification and you pick it up. It's the guy you've recently began talking to on hinge. Your boyfriend, now ex, broke up few months ago because he suddenly thought sleeping with his manager would be something you'd look past. Clearly, he was wrong and now he can choke on a thorny dick for all you care.
When your best friend, Cynthia had suggested to join a dating app just for the plot, you did it. Besides, what more could go wrong? An hour of swiping left and two cups of coffee later, you came across a guy with pictures of a guitar, a black cat and a chess board. In your defense, his cat was cute.
The texts reads, "Are you free on the upcoming Saturday? My buddy said there's a new coffee shop and they sell the best hazelnut frappe in existence."
You think before replying. According to the stats, it's the ninth day since you have started talking. Isn't it too soon to be going on a date? Although, there is a small part of you who wants to say "fuck it" and go. Before your thoughts go spiraling you go with the latter.
"Sure. Hazelnut frappe is my favorite" locking your phone you prepare to take a long hot bath. After all, you've earned it.
ŕźşâĄŕźť
Turns out the nerdy guys possessing a hobby of playing chess are not worth it. At least this one isn't. You wonder if you killed a bunch of kittens in your past life because seriously? When you said yes to the date two days ago, the thing you expected the least was your date constantly talking about how many hours he spends in the gym, which protein shake he drinks, even mansplaining about the NHL team he's been obsessed with. Guess you should have seen it coming from the way he couldn't even wait till ten days to ask you on a date.
Honestly, whenever you go on dates you can't help but expect the other person to be on their worst behavior. For example, you can expect the guy to dress badly, smell badly, show up late or conventionally not show up at all. This guy right here is outright insane and has failed to stay in his lane. You were getting agitated at this point.
"And then BOOM!! he shoots the most legendary shot of his life. This is what happens at NHL, you-" he stops when you stand up from your place.
"Excuse me, I'll just be back in a second" you place the napkin on the table as you grab your purse hoping the washroom has a secret exit or something.
But before you could even take a step forward, his voice stops you.
"Oh I know where this is going, You'll excuse yourself politely and then run away like some coward huh? Typical escape plan for you girls?" His voice sounds so nasty and when you turn towards him he's scowling at you like YOU'RE the one who was being a twat the whole time.
you mumble, "What do you mean?"
He stands up and walks towards you. You really try to ignore people staring at you but you're only human. The sudden rush of emotions have caused your mouth to go dry. It's hard to process what's happening.
"What I mean is that you're probably gonna go in there, call your best friend and ask her to help you escape because you can't stand another second with me" he raises his right eyebrow up.
"Sir, please you're causing trouble for everyone. I suggest you to please sit down"
This is beyond embarrassing. If you were planning to give this guy another chance earlier, there's no way in hell you're going to do that now. Over your dead body. So you do the only thing that makes perfect sense. Your hands fly and you hit his cheek with so much force, you swear you hear his jaw pop.
There are several gasps around you. If you're going to get booed on, you might as well make the most out of it.
His face turns sideways before he stands up straight. He raises his hand to hit you back but suddenly, out of nowhere, a hand grabs his forearm and yanks it away. You instantly know who it is. It's the same arm you wanted to twist a year back at the grocery store.
"Get your filthy fucking hands away from her"
After an year of trying to forget about him, he's here yet again and he's saving you from this asshole. You couldn't decide if you should be thrilled about him coming at your rescue or worried about him being back.

â
When Se-mi first spots you, youâre crouched down in front of a table and surrounded by four other women as you throw the gonggi pieces into the air. For a solid minute, she thinks her eyes are playing tricks on her - that or this person that bears a striking resemblance to her first real friend wasnât you at all. However, when your team rapidly advances around the bloodied track, sheâs allowed a closer look at you; your hair has grown longer and youâre just a bit taller than the last time she saw you, but your eyes are still the same and thatâs what confirms it for her.Â
She doesnât cheer when you win - her throat feels strangely tight and her heart is heavy in her chest even with your victory - but she does feel an overwhelming sense of relief as she watches you bound past the finish line. Seeing you smile and laugh once again stirs something inside of her, an emotion she hasnât felt for years.Â
Before you completely disappear behind the doors of the field, she swears she sees you turn around and look directly at her, vague recognition clear on your face.Â
â
âHey, where are you running off to so fast?â
Laughter rings out behind you as you pick up your pace, clutching your bag tight to your chest. Multiple footsteps fall in behind you, and with a short glance over your shoulder at the agitated faces of the girls trailing you, you realize today might not just end with a bit of teasing. Itâs New Yearâs Eve though and the sun is mostly set, so maybe they wonât knock you out cold so you can make it home on time to welcome the new year with your family.
âCâmon, arenât you gonna pay us back?â For what, you want to shout, but before you even get the chance to respond, the footsteps behind you suddenly speed up. Youâre practically thrown to the ground with a single hard shove on your back, arms flailing as your bag scuttles across the concrete. âMy dad said your family owes us some money, you know, and I donât mind getting it from you.â
Your head is spinning and your nose feels oddly hot, but you hear her words loud and clear and they send a deep feeling of shame through your entire body. A hand tangles itself in your hair as your head is pulled back, causing yet another fit of laughter to ring throughout the alley. âFuck, her nose is bleeding so much! Did you break it?â
The one holding you by the hair reassures her group that youâd be fine, they could just say you fell because currently, it was your word against five other students. A part of you begins to wonder if anyone would even come help if you screamed right then - the alley was right next to the school, someone was bound to hear you.Â
As the other four begin to sift through your bag for any valuables, you find your mouth sealed shut, afraid that even a whimper of pain would turn the attention of this pack of wolves back towards you. You didnât have much in your wallet these days, and what you did have was pocket change for emergencies. They would go home disappointed either way, but whatever kept you from getting beaten the worst would be preferred.Â
âWhat the hell, sheâs only got like 5000 won in here.â The tallest girl turns to you with both confusion and disdain evident on her face. âAre you really that fucking poor? Whereâs the rest of it?â
She stands right back up and so does the other three, all slowly advancing on you as you were held down by the fifth. You donât even struggle against her loose grip on your hair, slowly coming to accept the fact that you might just have to take a beating for today, because there is no âthe rest of it.âÂ
Perhaps, if youâre lucky, theyâll get bored fast at your lack of reaction to anything they do and youâll only go home with a bloody nose and a couple easily hidden bruises.Â
You can accept that fate, you can accept your place in this world.Â
âWhat the hellâs going on here?âÂ
Everyoneâs heads, even yours, turn towards the lone girl standing at the entrance of the alleyway. With the setting sun behind her, her face is mostly casted in shadows. You think you recognize her as one of the troublemakers in your math class, constantly getting sent outside to stand in the hallway and âthink about what sheâs done.â Even after being in the same class for two years, you still havenât quite learned anything about her beyond her antics. The reason for why sheâs butting in though, is also lost on you.
âMind your business, Se-mi.â So thatâs her name. It fits her. âWeâre just teaching this one a nice lesson in karma.âÂ
How ironic. Five girls beating on a younger classmate would definitely bring them amazing luck for the New Year.
Se-miâs eyes trail down towards the ground, towards you, and her eyes take in your bloody nose and the deep-blue bruise already forming on your cheek. For a second, you think she might just leave you here like anyone else would, but after some obvious inner contemplation, she speaks up once again.
âShe looks like she understands it just fine now,â she says mockingly, beginning to walk closer towards you all. Her eyes are sharp, leaving no room for argument, and you only wish you could be half as strong to stand up to these girls. âMaybe you guys should just head home.â It sounds less like a suggestion than it does a threat, and your attackers respond in kind.Â
âWhat, you got a problem with us?â Itâs obviously not a real question, but a chance for Se-mi to back out now before things get serious. She doesnât.
âYeah, I do, so whatâre we gonna do about it?âÂ
Inwardly, you curse yourself for inadvertently placing this stranger at risk to get beat up right alongside you for a problem that definitely had nothing to do with her.Â
For a second, the girls are silent, but you can practically feel their anger growing as the one on top of you lets go of your hair. Se-mi stands her ground, expression just as cold as always as they try (and fail) to intimidate her with their glares. Youâre frozen in awe of this idiot for both her courage and her poor decision-making skills.
Itâs no surprise to you when the tall one lunges forward to try and land the first punch in the inevitable fight, but Se-mi is quick to dodge it and redirect her momentum right into the side of a trash can. All hell breaks loose after that, and for a second, you think your savior might just win the fight with pure skill and experience alone, but reality catches up to you both.Â
With pure numbers, they bring Se-mi to the ground, and even though you scramble to your feet and try to fight them as well, youâre humbled even faster with your already pre-existing injuries and lack of knowledge on any forms of fighting. The tall one is the angriest, screaming curses at you both as youâre kicked and punched on the ground. Se-miâs attempt to get back on her feet is thwarted by a solid hit on her face, and your lack of an attempt is rewarded with a fist right to the center of your ribcage, knocking all the air out from your lungs.Â
As youâre beginning to think they might really want to kill you both, sirens in the distance interrupt the bombardment of pain on your sore body.Â
âShit, is that the police? Have we been spotted?â Their voices are now twinged with a hint of anxiety at being caught, and fortunately for the two of you, thatâs all it takes to end the assault. âLetâs just leave.â
With a final kick to your back, the girls quickly grab their backpacks and run for it, long forgetting your own bag and the 5000 won that started this beatdown in the first place.Â
â
As you look around the giant room for a place to eat, you find yourself unconsciously scanning the crowd for a familiar face as well.Â
A part of you is sure that it was her that you walked right by in the middle of the last game, but you were so focused on facing forward to make sure you wouldnât trip that you werenât able to get a clear look at her face. Even after you won, you were given little to no time to do anything on the field before being ushered back to the main room. Now, youâre beginning to think that the looming threat of death is making you cling even harder to long lost dreams, but you hope that isnât enough to make you hallucinate people you used to know.Â
Sitting down on one of the unoccupied steps, you open your container and begin digging in, forcing yourself to forget the foolish dream thatâs been occupying your mind for hours now. Even during the vote, you found your hand drifting towards the bright red X just in case she really was here and at risk of imminent death (just like everyone else). In the end, the blue patch on your chest is unchanging, and no imaginary companion will change that.
âY/N?â
Your neck almost snaps clean in half with the way your head shoots up to see the person who just called your name, a name you are 100% sure you didnât give to anyone here. Yet, when you see who it is, youâre somehow even more surprised than you wouldâve been if it was some stranger.Â
Se-mi casually stands right in front of you after what felt like a lifetime without her. She smiles - no, smirks at the recognition evident on your face and plops herself down right next to you.
âLong time no see, 399,â she says, her voice teetering on the edge of teasing and what might be genuine happiness to see you again. Of course, she has to ruin the moment by reminding you of the situation you had to reunite in, and you glance down at the number on her chest as well.
âYeah, itâs good to see you again, 380.â You add as much sass to your voice as you can manage in the moment, but it comes out just as soft as you meant it in your heart because it is good to see her again.Â
For a moment, the two of you can only stare at each other, picking up the differences in each personâs appearance since the last time you met. Itâs the kind of peaceful silence that you havenât been afforded for far too long, and now that itâs given to you, you canât bring yourself to be the one that breaks it. Luckily for you, it seems like Se-mi canât either, because all she does is stare at you with an indecipherable look in her eyes. If you had to describe it, you might say that itâs the unspoken equivalence of the softness in your voice from earlier (by now, you understand full well that the most genuine emotion youâll get out of her might just have to come from carefully reading every one of her expressions).Â
For a long time, the two of you simply eat in silence, basking in each otherâs company. Your legs occasionally brush with how close she sat to you, but it doesnât feel awkward in the slightest; if anything, itâs comforting, reminding you of your youth together before the real world caught up.Â
âSo, you know what Iâm gonna ask you.â As always, itâs her that breaks the silence between you two, and you canât blame her for being curious. Afterall, this was a horrible place to meet someone you know.
âMy fatherâs business finally completely collapsed, and now weâre getting chased around the country by loan sharks,â you say, laughing a bit at your own situation. It didnât take long for you to decide that Se-mi deserved to know the truth, but you knew she would be the last person to judge you for such circumstances. âI didnât have any other options besides this.â
She doesnât look at you with pity for your answer. Itâs one of the traits you appreciated most from her back then.Â
âWhat about you? Howâd you end up in this shithole?âÂ
Your question earns you a laugh that as always, never fails to make you smile right back at her.
âI mean, I canât say Iâm getting chased around, but Iâve got a bit of debt I need to handle.â She almost decides to cut her story off there, but youâre looking at her with such genuine interest in your eyes that she canât bring herself to hide the rest from you. How long has it been since someone cared so much about what she had to say? âCollege was⌠too expensive. I didnât have anyone that could help out, so Iâve just been working random jobs here and there.â
Unfortunately, her answer seems completely honest. You wish you couldâve been there by her side, but your own family was dealing with a lot then too.Â
âWhy didnât you just⌠continue to try to make it work out there?â Youâre praying that your question doesnât come off as insensitive, but she seems to find it amusing if anything. âWhy would you risk losing everything like this?â
That last phrase earns you a scoff this time, and she turns away with a strained expression, clearly struggling to keep her ever cocky smirk on her face.
âI donât have anything left to lose. This place is my chance to get a headstart or justâŚâ The rest remains unsaid, and even though sheâs speaking so casually, your heart drops at the insinuation. â...I havenât left a mark on the world at all, Y/N. What happens here really wonât matter much to anyone out there.â
For a second, youâre stumped as to how to answer her. Thereâs some twisted truth to her reasoning, and youâre sure that if most of the people in this room died tomorrow, their deaths would be passed off as mere victims to loan sharks or suicide. That, or their disappearances wouldnât be noticed at all. But no. It isnât the same for Se-mi, and you desperately want her to know that.
âIt would matter a lot to me.â You try to make it sound casual so she doesnât tuck tail and run like she usually does, but you know it left an impact on her with the way her eyes drift to the ground and her brows furrow just slightly. âYou left a pretty big impact on my life, you know that?â
As you turn back towards your food, Se-mi glances at you from the corner of her eye. There isnât a hint of deception or even sarcasm in your face, in your voice, in any part of you. Itâs a level of honesty sheâs only ever experienced from you, and after being apart for so long, she had forgotten how soothing it was to be on the receiving end of such genuine kindness.Â
For years now, she had found herself searching for you in every face she came across, in every friend and partner she had, in every short moment of peace she was allowed in her rocky life. Now that sheâs finally found you though, sheâs not sure what to do with herself.Â
For the rest of night, right up until lights-out, the two of you bask in the silence once again. In your own separate ways, you both sit there and think about each other. You consider what you lost when you were separated from her. She considers the fact that she mightâve just regained something she can now lose if her own life is lost, and the thought of it terrifies her.Â
When itâs time to sleep, itâs Se-mi that gets up first, albeit with a great deal of hesitance. The two of you part ways, and before you can get too far, you hear a faint whisper from behind you.
âGood luck tomorrow.â
It makes you crack a smile, turning around to see her still looking at you. Her smile is still strained, but now, thereâs a hint of happiness there.
âYeah, you too, and goodnight, Se-mi.âÂ
Even now, the sound of your soft voice calling her name makes her heart skip a beat.
â
âWhat the fuck was thatâŚâÂ
You finally begin to stir awake at the groans and curses coming from beside, and all your body feels is pain.
God, they really did a number on you didnât they?
âFucking cops didnât even stop for us,â the voice groans again, now paired with a faint shuffling as you watch her attempt to get back on her feet through your incredibly blurry eyes. All you can manage is to roll onto your back, looking up to see the pitch black sky.
Wait, black?!Â
How long have you been out?!
âUff!â A loud clatter of boxes graces your ears as you glance over to see her - Se-mi, was it? - right back on the ground. From the looks of it, her legs were also feeling extremely uncooperative. You already feel like shit, but she took a majority of the beating so she probably feels even worse. Guilt courses through you as she groans in pain, rolling onto her back to mimic your position.Â
For a couple minutes, you both lay there in silence, staring up at the empty night sky. In the far distance, cars zoom past on the main road, likely salarymen rushing to get home to their families in time to celebrate New Years.
By now, you've come to the realization that you'll probably would have to celebrate yours alone on the ground this time, considering the fact that your body was not letting you get back up. For now, at least, maybe you can get to know your savior (or rather, attempted savior).
â...Iâm sorry about this,â you whisper, sighing heavily into the cold December air.
âDid you get a few hits in on me too?â Sheâs clearly mocking you, but you canât even be mad right now.Â
âStill⌠sorry.â
âItâs whatever.â A beat of silence follows. âI never liked those bitches anyways.âÂ
The second part is almost whispered as if it were a secret between the two of you, and you let out a small chuckle, cutting yourself off before it becomes a laugh as pain shoots up your torso at that small movement.Â
In the tranquility that follows, Se-mi begins to fully question why she was laying there on the cold concrete in extreme discomfort for a stranger - well, not really a stranger, but she doesnât even know your name. Then she thinks back to the ugly feeling she had in her gut watching you get cornered by those stuck-up rich kids, unwilling to even fight back, and she thinks she mightâve done the right thing despite how meaningless this encounter might become.Â
She looks over at your bruised face thinking about how similar you looked to a kicked puppy at that instance, and she canât help but push your buttons even more.Â
âArenât you glad we were able to save your 5000 won?âÂ
The absurdity of her statement distracts you from the pain you feel, and after a scoff and a slight shake of your head, you find yourself genuinely laughing for the first time in a long time. It doesnât take long for her to follow, and after a couple moments, you both find yourselves giggling like children at the shitty situation.
You enjoy this rare moment of companionship for only a couple seconds before you begin hearing loud shouts in the distance.
Theyâre counting down, but youâre nowhere near home and neither is she.
â5!â
âHey, whatâs your name?âÂ
â4!â
You turn your head and answer her, and she smiles at you.
â3!â
âIâm Se-mi.âÂ
â2!â
Itâs different hearing her name from her own mouth, spoken without any of the hatred that your attackers infused into the word.
â1!â
You both look up just in time to see fireworks lighting up the once dark sky, red, yellow, and green hues reflecting in your eyes as you force yourself to relax and take in the moment.Â
In this moment, with Se-mi by your side, you donât feel as lonely as you expected yourself to be. Itâs a feeling of comfort youâre rarely given, but you openly bask in it as you think about the confidence and bravery it mustâve taken to stand up against five people like that. In another life, perhaps, you could be someone like her, protecting people like you.Â
Like a knight in shining armor.
âHappy New Year, Y/N. Iâm going to sleep now.â Your head snaps over in her direction as she folds her hands behind her head and closes her eyes, getting way too comfortable on the ground of a shady alleyway.
âWhat?â No response. âWhat the hell are you talking about? Weâre not sleeping here!â
She bluntly ignores you and her breaths get heavier, but itâs obvious that sheâs just pretending to be asleep. The thought of getting up and leaving by yourself crosses your mind, but you canât bring yourself to part with this girl just yet.
With a resigned sigh, you roll onto your side with a pained groan and close your eyes as well, praying that no mysterious van comes to kidnap you two in this moment.
âHappy New Year, Se-mi.â Silence. âAnd thank you.â
Youâre already facing her so when you peak open your eyes, you see her lips twitch upwards at your choice to stay, and that solidifies the deal.
When morning comes the next day, you donât even bother going home first before walking alongside her to school. You sit next to her in class for the first time, and you share the lunch you bought with her under the guise of ânot being able to finish it.â Sheâs resistant at first, but eventually, she indulges you.Â
This routine continues for the next two years. Itâs only interrupted when you break the news to her that your father is forcing the family to flee because of his growing debts.Â
That night, you both walk back to the alley and lay there together under the stars.
You think you mightâve seen her eyes water once or twice, but you say nothing, unwilling to break the sacred silence between the two of you. Itâs the last one you share for years, until you inevitably see her again in the worst possible place.
â
As everyone begins filing out to head to the next game, Se-mi feels an uncontrollable urge to break away from her current group to go find you once again. She can already see you in the distance, but even though the two of you make eye contact for a brief moment, you look away upon seeing her already large group.Â
Shoving her hands in her pockets, she begins to turn away from the rambling of Thanos and Nam-gyu behind her, but a meek voice calls out her name and stops her.
âWhere are you going?âÂ
Itâs Min-su, and heâs looking at her like a lost animal terrified of losing its protector. A wave of guilt crashes into her at the thought of leaving this poor boy to the sharks, and even though your face is still the only thing on her mind, she wonders if itâs worth it to betray her new group.Â
If she left now, she might not make it through this next game.Â
If she dies now, she wonât get a second chance at life (and a second chance to live by your side again, but she pushes that thought to the side for now).Â
âNowhere, letâs go.â
Thatâs all it takes to appease him, and with one last glance over to where she saw you last, she reintegrates herself back into the group and moves forward.Â
â
Even though the first two rounds pass by without a hitch, you think this game might be the most dangerous one yet. Youâve got your own little group from the Six-Legged Race, but as the announcer called for rooms of four, you watch the youngest girl of your team get shoved out of your group by two others (sisters, if you remembered correctly). Itâs heartbreaking to hear her cry out as you all ran away, but you canât save her and save yourself at the same time.Â
Youâve made it this far, and youâd be damned if you were sent home an empty handed corpse now.Â
As the platform begins to spin again, you pat the shoulder of the woman standing next to you - 047. She was closer to the younger one than you were, and her death obviously shook the poor lady up. Her reaction makes you realize how distant youâve been to everyone since you arrived (with one notable exception, of course), and you find your own heart beating hard against your chest at the thought of being abandoned as well.Â
â3 players.â
Of course.
For a second, the four of you freeze. The sisters are holding onto each otherâs hands with a death grip, and you know now that itâs between you and 047. A part of you thinks about shoving her down so you could run away with the other two, but something behind her catches your eye before you can do anything.
Itâs Se-mi.Â
Sheâs standing completely alone, hand held out towards nobody, and not a single other person from that group you saw her with earlier by her side.Â
Like itâs muscle memory, you shove past 047 and run the fastest youâve ever ran right at her. You hear a faint yell of gratitude from behind you as you wrap your arms around Se-mi and pull her forward towards one of the empty rooms in the distance. The impact seems to wake her out of her stupor, changing your awkward position so that now, youâre running side by side with her hand in yours. Along the way, you grab a stray girl up from the ground by the back of her sweater and pull her along to complete the three.Â
As you all clamber into the room, Se-mi slams the door shut behind you, barely missing the time-out buzzer. The lock clicks shut, and you hear gunfire outside, but she ignores all of it to turn around to look at you. This is the most emotional sheâs looked since youâve reunited, eyes downturned with sadness and a hint of fear at how close she was to death.Â
Ignoring the girl repeatedly thanking you to your right, you walk up to Se-mi and pull her into a tight hug, relishing in the warmth of her body.Â
âIâm glad I made it in time, 380.â
You feel her arms beginning to wrap around you before the lock clicks open, forcing you to pull apart to exit the room. Your hand doesnât leave hers, and itâs a clear signal that youâll be sticking by her side for the rest of this game.
Se-mi doesnât even find herself searching the arena for Min-su and the others as you walk with her back to the platform, completely distracted by the tingling sensation in her hand as you interlace your fingers together. Itâs a feeling thatâs new to her, being chosen by someone in a manner like this; of course, sheâs been desired before, maybe even loved (despite her inability to return the other personâs feelings), but this is different somehow. In this scenario, itâs you, not some random girl she met at a bar. Itâs you choosing to risk your life to make sure she continues living, and in the wake of this realization, the feelings that sheâs been shoving down for countless years come rushing back to her.Â
As the next rounds pass by, you remain unchanging by her side. Even as the announcer calls for 2 players, you donât even hesitate to pull her with you, leaving behind everyone you joined up with in the last couple rounds.Â
Even after you run over the blood of countless others, you never let go of her hand, and she never lets go of yours.
â
âYou really saved my ass back there.â
Here, back in the comfort of this familiar room, Se-mi has regained her usual joking nature, smirking at you as you nod, very clearly proud of yourself.
âYes, I did. Maybe you should give me your share of the prize money for that,â you say, holding out your hand to her. She laughs and wraps her arm around your shoulder, walking you back over to the steps where you had your first conversation.Â
âMaybe I will, or maybe Iâll pay for a couple meals together instead.â The innuendo isnât lost on you, and your face goes red as she gets even cockier. âItâs time I pay for you for all those lunches, but dinner wouldnât be so bad either.â
Your face is still turned away from her in embarrassment, but she can still see the blush on your cheeks, revelling in her own ability to make you fold. You mumble something under your breath, but sheâs too focused on her victory to hear you.Â
âWhat was that?â
âI said, youâve already saved me plenty of times before, more times than you can count, so I should treat you first.âÂ
The warmth in her chest returns full force, and now, itâs her fighting to keep a blush off her face, lest you start embarrassing her about that too. She wonders, what would it be like to take you out on a proper date? She imagines you all dressed up, and in that moment, she decides what she wants to spend her prize money on first when you all leave this place.Â
She wants to buy you flowers. She wants to take you to a nice, luxurious restaurant and show you off, then under the stars, sheâll ask you to be hers.
âWhatever you say, pretty lady.â
That earns her a smack on the arm and a scoff as your face starts burning once again (to Se-miâs absolute delight).Â
The moment is unfortunately interrupted by the main doors sliding open, and you watch as the pink guards file in. At the front table, two giant buttons lay waiting for the remaining contestants. Everyone around you begins to speak in hushed tones, obviously discussing their plans for the next vote.Â
âAre you going to change your vote?â As you spin around to face her again, Se-mi gestures down at the blue patch on your chest.Â
During your entire walk back, you had been contemplating your unchanging choice to stay and risk your life. For the majority of the first two days, you lived life believing there would be no consequences to your death. You wouldnât lose anything - your life was already in immense danger outside this place, so your family wouldnât be too surprised if you turned up dead either. There was nothing to lose and everything to gain, and so, O was the easy choice.
Then Se-mi walks back into your life and complicates the hell out of it.Â
Now, you realize that if you vote to stay, youâre also voting for her to stay and risk her life. If either of you died here, you would be wasting this chance cast upon you to experience the world by her side.
âYes, this should be enough money for my family to be able to live normally again.âÂ
She nods, and even though it looks like sheâs still contemplating her decision, Se-mi made her choice as soon as you took her hand in the last game.
âEven if there were less money in the pig right now, I think Iâd still pick to leave.â You smile softly at her and look her directly in the eye as you continue. âBeing wealthy is a faraway dream, but for now, I just want to live in the company of those I love.â You squeeze her hand and hold your gaze, and this time, Se-mi isnât able to hold back the blush that rushes onto her face.
If these games donât take her out, youâll really be the death of her.
â
As you silently eat what is hopefully your last meal in this place together, two groups of men clamber out of the bathroom. Theyâre bloodied and thereâs a horrifying look of pure bloodlust on many of their faces, and you feel your heart drop.Â
Would there be a fight tonight? Is that allowed?
Se-mi sees the fear on your face and gently rubs her thumb on the back of her hand. Despite her best efforts though, your concerns are not assuaged and you realize that getting shot by the pink guards might not be the only way you can die in this place.Â
These people are hungry and hopeless, and you fully understand the lengths many would go through for a second chance.
âSe-mi, sleep with me tonight.âÂ
Her eyebrows raise and she smirks, but even this attempt to lighten the air with her usual humor doesnât work, but still, she agrees immediately and you try to swallow the lump in your throat. Youâre sure that no matter what happens, you wonât find sleep tonight, but that pales in comparison to your desire to protect Se-mi at all costs.Â
You wonât leave this place without her.Â
â
As the strobe lights turn on and off, your eyes bounce around the room as you search for somewhere, anywhere that might be free of the insane violence. Every way you look, thereâs some sort of fight happening - that or youâve just watched someone get brutally murdered in their own bed. For a second, you consider that you might be safe if you and her just stand still in your little corner, but a man rounds the corner and you feel yourself freeze up.
âCome here, you fucking traitor bitch!â Itâs 124, and he looks like a rabid animal with red painted across his face and a bloody fork in his hand. In the back of your mind, you slap yourself for not keeping the utensil for self defense.Â
Se-mi attempts to shove you further behind her as he begins charging at you two, but before you can even make a move, a glass bottle shatters at his feet. You all look up to see a young man that you donât recognize, but from the rage on 124âs face, you figure he mightâve been one of his old teammates.Â
In their distracted states, you rush forward, grabbing a shard of glass from the floor and swinging it right at the manâs head. Unfortunately for you, you still have absolutely no skills when it comes to fighting and he easily dodges the hit. It doesnât feel like some slow motion action movie when you see his fork flying at your neck at full speed, but somehow, youâre fast enough to lift your hand so that it punctures right through your palm instead. You scream, and behind you, Se-mi calls your name as well.Â
In an extremely painful rush of adrenaline, you maneuver his and your body to switch places, trusting Se-mi to take care of the rest. In the few flashes of light that youâre granted, you see her rush forward with her own shard of glass in hand, unforgivingly jabbing it right into the side of 124âs neck.Â
âFuck! Fucking bitch!â His scream pierces your ears as he finally lets you go, and you donât waste the moment you get. Pulling his fork out of your hand, you slam it down into the side of his head with all your strength.Â
A beat passes, then he falls to the ground unmoving.Â
âAre you okay?! Let me see!â Se-mi rushes forward and takes you in her arms, dragging both of you backwards towards the wall as she inspected your injuries. In the rush that followed watching someone die by your own hands, you can barely feel the pain at all. All you can focus on is the woman in front of you and how afraid you were when 124 charged at her.Â
âSe-mi - Se-mi, listen to me,â you choke you, using your bloody hands to gently hold her face. Her eyes are glossy with unshed tears, and you can see how much the encounter shook her to her core. âWhen we leave this place, promise me youâll stay by my side.â
Your voice is desperate and you can feel your own tears rising, vision getting blurry as you struggle to wipe them off with the sleeve of your sweater. It looks like Se-mi barely heard your request with the way she was still scanning your body for any serious injuries.Â
âWhat?! What are you-â
âPromise me! Please!â Youâre openly sobbing now, holding onto the one thing keeping you moving in this world, and finally, she focuses her gaze back on your face. With a quiet voice, she finally responds to you with a shaky smile.
âHow could I ever leave you?â
Her eyes are the most expressive theyâve been, filled with concern and what looks like love, the same love that youâve held for her ever since you were 16.Â
With trembling hands, she holds your face just as you hold hers and leans in, pressing her lips against yours. Itâs not gentle - itâs more desperate if anything, but you feel like flying in that moment. As your legs slowly give out, she holds you carefully in her arms and lowers the both of you to the floor.Â
Finally, as you begin to drown out the surrounding chaos, the world around you falls silent as well. You close your eyes and imagine that youâre back in that alleyway, finally at peace with the person you love the most.
When you open your eyes again, sheâs still right there in front of you, and youâre the happiest youâve been since the day you met.

Hey can you do one where the reader has a crush on Matt. She is very much giving heart eyes and tries to do anything to make him happy.Matt being oblivious complains to his brother about it.Nick and Chris smack some sense into him saying how lucky he is to have someone like us care about him.Matt disagrees and the reader hears this causing her to stop not wanting to make him uncomfortable.Matt misses the way things use to be and gets jealous when learning the reader is going out on a date.At the end they have an argument and he tells her how he really feels.Lots of angst in the beginning fluff towards the end please!!
OVERBEARING - m. sturniolo
warnings: slight cursing, angst at start, fluff at the end
-
you couldnât deny it anymore. and you dont think it went unnoticed either.
the lingering gazes, to the more than normal laughter at his jokes, or the constant acts of service. how you were willing to do anything for him. just him.
matthew sturniolo.
you thought your constant need to be near him was just you wanting to be better friends. that was until your feelings started growing stronger.
ây/n, helloo.â
you brought your attention to the voice you found yourself loving so much.
âsorry, what?â
âi asked if you could pass the remote.â matt repeated while settling down beside you on the couch. you nodded and reached over to grab the remote to hand it to him. it was around 1 AM, and it was just the two of you. nick and chris had went to their rooms while you and matt decided to watch a movie.
âwant me to get you a blanket?â you whispered as matt stared at the screen to the opening of the movie.
âno, im good.â matt says. you nodded and turned your head towards the movie. about five minutes or so passed when you asked another question.
âhungry?â
ânope.â matt responds, adding a âpopâ to the p to exaggerate his response. you mumbled an âokayâ. a few beats of silence passed before once again, you asked.
âare you sure-â
ây/n, please mâ just trying to watch the movie in peace.â matt sighed. he was getting frustrated by the second. after a long day of filming with his relatively loud brothers, the only sounds he wanted to hear were the actors on the tv.
but this was only one example of your persistence. you were always clung to mattâs side. following him like a lost puppy at all times.
always there to cook him up a meal after his long day, willing to do any of his chores that he just didnât feel like doing, even soothing him to sleep on those tough nights where everything went blank.
nick would sometimes make fun of matt. it almost seemed like you were his mother with the way you acted. but thats not what you were trying to come off as. you simply just had a lot of love for the boy that you werenât really ready to confess yet.
but for matt? he didnât see your clinginess as a good thing, in fact he began to hate it once nick pointed it out.
on one particular day matt decided to bring it up to his brothers while they were in nickâs room.
âi just donât get it, like sheâs just always there.â matt says while pacing around the room.
âis that a bad thing?â nick asks while organizing the clothes in his closet.
âi mean it wouldnât be if she didnât act like im some sort of child.â matt sighed while plopping down at the edge of the bed.
âi dunno, iâd love to have someone like y/n. she literally does everything for you bro.â chris laughs while slightly nudging matt.
âyeah..â nick yells from his closet. âdonât know why youâre bitchinâ bout it sheâs literally helps you with likeâŚâ nick took a pause to think. âeverything!â
matt scoffs before shaking his head. âyeah well itâs nice before it gets fucking unbearable.â
unbeknownst to matt, you could hear this whole conversation. you had came to drop off some food for the triplets, and since you had an extra key you went straight in. now you wouldâve made yourself known until you realized you were the topic of their conversation.
to say you were hurt from matts words was an understatement. you quickly rushed out of the house, tears streaming down your face recounting every scenario where you were overbearing.
-
hours turned into days and days turned into weeks. matt hadnât heard from you in a while. he expected to wake up to your daily morning texts, but nothing. after he shrugged that off he expected you to come over like you usually did. but once again, you didnât.
he found himself longing for your presence more than he ever did.
you both went no contact until you came over, seeking nicks assistance since you had a date that night in hopes that your little crush on matt would subside.
you had went the whole time without speaking to the brunette. opting for a simple âheyâ. matt was confused. why were you suddenly so distant? sure he wanted space at times but this is not what he had in mind.
matt finally snapped when you attempted rushing out their house, bidding matt goodbye with a meek âsee yaâ.
matt rose from his spot on the catch before making his way towards you. âare you gonna tell me whatâs going on, or are you gonna keep avoiding me?â matt said while crossing his arms on his chest.
you could only roll your eyes before slipping your shoes on. âi dont know what youâre talking about, but i have to go.â you spat harshly before spinning on your heel.
âwoah, whatâs up with you?â matt yelled, shocked at your sudden anger towards him. he pulled you back by your wrist so you could face him.
âyâknow if you found me âoverbearingâ you couldâve just told me.â
thats when everything came back to matt. instant regret washed over him as he gazed upon your solemn expression. the same eyes that used to hold so much adoration for him now hollow.
âiâm so sorry y/n. i know theres no excuse to what i said but i was just being stupid.â matt sighed while running a hand down his face. âyouâre far from overbearing, in fact i...i really miss you.â
âreally?â you mumbled while your facial expression softened. matt nodded before embracing you in a tight hug to which you reciprocated by wrapping your arms around his waist. your date long forgotten.
âyouâre amazing the way you are, and im sorry if i made it seem any other way.â
you smiled at matts words before leaning up to look at him. âjust tell me next time, okay?â matt smiled and lightly pecked the side of your temple. happy to have finally gotten you back.
the version of you he loved.
and the version of you he would always cherish.
-
A/N: sorry this shouldâve came out yesterday but i had to study for an exam. i have also been experiencing writers block but i have a new matt series in mind so stay on the look out for that!

vivrant thing (jwy) | four.
âSPOTIFY PLAYLIST / SERIES MASTERLIST
âSUMMARY: after getting into a little accident, wooyoung decides to do his sister a favor by pretending to be your date at the company summer party. as soon as the night ends, wooyoung would go back to his usual routine of hanging out with his boys, keeping his distance from committed relationships and being a typical brother to jiwoo. except, the favor comes with more than what wooyoung expects and he finds you occupying his mind more than usual.Â
âPAIRING:Â jung wooyoung x f. reader
âGENRE: (18+ - minors dni)Â bestfriendâs brother au | fluff, angst, smut
âWORD COUNT: 6.2k
âCHAPTER CONTENT / WARNINGS: cussing, mature language/sexually implied content, angst angst angst, accusations are being thrown, jiwoo is mean, wooyoung is angry, hongjoong tryna play peacemaker, oc is sad, crying, its kinda a mess??, some insecurities coming to surface, mentions of past relationships and wooyoung's fuckboy history
One thing you also don't expect at Jiwoo's family lunch is how incredibly tense and awkward you and Wooyoung are. Maybe you need to wake up a little more and sit with your reality, but you surely hate the feeling it brings. It's almost obvious how you both freeze at the sight of each other, the both of you trying your hardest to keep it together but avoid eye contact.
Wooyoung's first mistake was keeping you [somewhat] at a distance after the party. Truthfully, he was scared as he sorted through his thoughtsâ not really sure how to make sense of any of it. Even though, he knew deep down that he did have newfound feelings for you and it wasn't something he could ignore. It wasn't like anything he's felt before, and he knew it'd only grow despite him trying to push it aside to buy him more time.
Wooyoung's second mistake was leaving you that morning without saying much afterwards. Leaving you and him in limbo. Though, this was the one core moment when he could honestly and truthfully say his feelings grew for you. He was locked in, and there was no going back. He should've told you right then and there instead of making you feel like one of them.
One of his hookups, his tap-n-dash's, his toot-it-n-boot-it's.Â
You were not that. He meant every word he said to you that night, and he should've fucking told you. Now, he's stuck with not knowing how to do it after some time has passed.
âFLASHBACK
Wooyoung's eyes flutter open to the sun beaming into your studio, causing him to squint and shift a bit in his position. He tries not move too much when he realizes your back is pressed against him, and he's got an arm around you. Luckily, the movements don't wake you and Wooyoung can't help but smile to himself at how tired you seem to be. He snuggles against you for a few more minutes, giving you tiny kisses on your shoulder, the back of your head. His hand gives your side a soft squeeze, and he finds that this is how he'd like to wake up every morning.
With you, in particular.
But as equally as the thought is exciting, it is also frightening. Because every moment seems to make this more and more real and he's not sure how to act. So, he freezes. Those 'few more minutes' are suddenly over, and he's slipping himself out of your bed gently. He needs time to figure out what to say and how to say it without sounding like an idiot. He slips into his clothes and finds a stack of post-its nearby, scribbling a quick note to leave on your nighstand to at least let you know he's thinking about you. He is, he truly is. He doesn't wanna rip himself off you, but he has to cause he needs timeâ
morning cute stuff! text me when you wake up. had to run off cause im shy and don't want you to see my morning face lol jk need to meet up with san for a workout. talk to you later! hope you slept well :)
Which, isn't entirely a lie. He does need to meet San for a workout, it's just hours later.
He darts out anyway, giving your door one last look before he heads to his car and begins his journey home. When you wake about 15 minutes after he leaves, your heart drops when you realize Wooyoung isn't behind you anymore. You were giving him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he might be locked away in the bathroom.
But, nothing.
His clothes are gone.
Wooyoung is gone.
And although the note leaves a small smile on your face, you can't ignore the way your chest tightens knowing he left in somewhat of a hurry; at least, before you could wake up. Was it because this was always how Wooyoung was? Did he really mean everything he said last night?
Or were you just like them?
The thoughts don't make it any easier on you, and you've swallowed the lump in your throat in an attempt to push the tears back. You can't help but feel hurt despite knowing how Wooyoung was. You weren't any different, and you shouldn't have relied on that. You shouldn't have gotten so comfortable, you shouldn't have opened up to him the way you did.
You were a favor to Wooyoung, nothing more, nothing less.
jiwoo: goodmorning to my baby!!!
jiwoo: sorry i didnt text you last night after dinner, we can catch up later!
jiwoo: come with me to my family lunch tomorrow? we can have a girls day after since i feel like its been so long
jiwoo: we can get our nails done and go shopping then just cry over our favorite movies!!
Then, the reality hits you even more. You're gonna have to tell Jiwoo what happened because even if you try to hide it, you're terrible at lying and Jiwoo will catch on eventually. She'll know something has changed, she'll know something has hurt you.
And you're not ready to tell her it's her own brother.
you: okay đ i'm down for lunch and a girls day tomorrow. i need it.
jiwoo: okay, yay! đ me too!! i'll pick you up around 11:30 tomorrow.
you: sounds good.
âEND
"The most important people have arrived! Sorry to worry you guys. It was kinda traffic." Jiwoo says, greeting her family and San.
"No one asked." Wooyoung glares at her before making a face while she hugs him tightly. "Get off." He whines when she doesn't pry her arms around her brother right away, making her giggle mischievously. When she finally lets go and moves onto San, Wooyoung shifts his attention to you.
"Hey Y/N." He says with a pursed smile, bringing you in for a one-armed hug that feels forced and too stiff.
"Hi." You softly respond, avoiding all eye contact. It sucks, it sucks, it sucks. You didn't end up texting him that morning. As much as you wanted to, you didn't wanna look sad and desperate even though you longed for Wooyoung's company. You spent time with your grandpa to get your mind off of it, but it was difficult. He didn't take the chance to text you either, so that told you more than you needed to know.
Sometimes silence can be the most deafening.
You scurry along to say hello to San before greeting their parents, back to hiding behind Jiwoo as you all wait to be seated.
"Where's Hongjoong?"
"Not here because it's a girls day after this." Jiwoo links her arm with yours as she follows her parents into the restaurant when they're called, Wooyoung and San following behind.
"Girls day? What are you ladies doing afterwards?" Their father asks as all of you settle at a round table. You fall in between Wooyoung and Jiwoo, of course, and you almost wanna tell his sister to switch just for your own sake.
But, you don't. You suck it up.Â
You sit. He sits.
It's quiet.
Wooyoung grabs chopsticks from the center container and passes them out to his parents, San, then you and Jiwoo. He doesn't really say anything else, he can't really look at you just like you can't with him.
And all of this is so awkward for no reason.
Well, there are reasons, but it doesn't have to be this way and Wooyoung is constantly calling himself dumb for creating this divide, this distance. For making you feel this way. All he wants to do is hug you, kiss you a few times, hold your hand. Be all cute with you.
He's an idiot.
"Gonna get our nails done and go shop."
"I'm surprised Yeosang didn't come." Wooyoung pauses as he's skimming through the dim sum menu, hoping you don't catch the way his jaw slightly clenches. How he almost rolls his eyes at the sound of his name. He doesn't have a reason to dislike Yeosang at all, but he finds himself getting irked knowing that Yeosang has feelings for you. He shouldn't, though. He can't claim you like that, especially if he's being dumb and not knowing how to be upfront about his feelings properly.
"Oh, no. That probably won't happen for awhile." Jiwoo says.
"Aw, why not? Is he just busy nowadays?"
"Busy sulking." Jiwoo mutters playfully. "Didn't snag the girl of his dreams." She teases you and you roll your eyes.
"Stop that."
"He'll live." Wooyoung adds nonchalantly while him and San check off items on the list, and Jiwoo doesn't even bat an eye at the comment.
"What happened?" San whispers to Wooyoung and he furrows his brows at him. "Did Yeosang ask Y/N out or something?" But before Wooyoung can respond, his mom cuts in with the same questionâ
"Aw, no! Did he ask you out?" At this point, the waitress brings water and a kettle full of hot barley tea.
"Yeah, but we just decided to stay friends." You look at her so innocently Wooyoung can't fucking take it. Jesus Christ. Kinda reminds him of the other night.
"We, more like you." Jiwoo teases and you glare at her.
"Well, she was honest and I'm sure he appreciated it." Their father chimes in. "You don't ever wanna force anything, that's the number one rule."Â
"If he truly values you and respects you as one of his good friends, he'll understand and won't treat you differently from before." Their mom adds.Â
"That'll be awkward for them." San says lowly to Wooyoung just as he hands the checklist off to the waitress in passing.
"He's a grown ass man, he'll get over it. You win some, you lose some." San furrows his brows at Wooyoung's reaction. He truly can't help but notice that his bestfriend has been on edge ever since you and Jiwoo came. He's not sure he's ever seen Wooyoung so awkward and.. weird. And he knows you're pretty shy, but you're also acting very weird and.. avoidant?
"I guess so." Is all San says.
"Is there someone else?" Wooyoung almost chokes on his water. The heat instantly rises to your cheeks and you feel somewhat suffocated from the question alone. "Jesus, Wooyoung. I told you to drink slowly." Their mom adds.Â
"Mother chismosa. All up in her business." Jiwoo laughs at Wooyoung's response.
"I'm just wondering! She's like my baby, too." She furrows her brows at her son before returning to you with a smile on her face.Â
"Oh, um. No. There's no one else." You pause, missing the way Wooyoung is looking at you through his peripherals. "Just thought we're better off that way."
"I see. Well, you know Y/N, the right person will come in time. Don't rush it."
"Sometimes, I wish Wooyoung could find a nice girl like you." His dad chimes in. "He is a pain in the ass, though."
"I'm sorry, I'm confused. Did we gather around over some dim sum just to get on my ass? Did I miss the agenda?" Jiwoo and San snicker.
"Stop it, you're making him embarrassed." Their mom shifts her attention back to you. "Y/N, anyway. How's Papa been?" Jiwoo pours you more tea to drink.
"He's been okay. I spent the day with him yesterday. He hasn't been feeling the greatest, though."
"Oh? Is he sick?" You shrug.
"He seemed to be fine yesterday. He just says he's more tired lately, been feeling this on-and-off dull pain in his lower back. I told him we should go to the hospital, but he doesn't think it's a big deal. He thinks he just needs to keep exercising and stretching properly."
"I see. Otherwise he's been okay?"
"Mhm." You give their parents a small, toothless smile, tugging your turtleneck sweater up when you feel everyone's eyes on you for a second. "He's the same." Underneath the material are the little marks Wooyoung left, and they've barely started to fade away.
"That's good to hear. Please bring him by soon, we'd love to see him again." You nod.
"Girl, aren't you hot wearing that turtleneck?" Jiwoo tugs on the material and you kinda shimmy away from her grip.
"No, I'm okay."
"Is it just me then? Am I getting hot flashes already?" Her mom clicks her teeth and tells her to stop being so dramatic. At this point, the food is rolled in and placed on the table like a game of tetris. Everyone automatically digs in, passing food along until everyone's satisfied with their first serving. Usually by now, Wooyoung has at least teased you one way or another, cracked a joke or poked fun at you. That's how he typically is with you. Today, you're seeing a very different side of him, and you're not sure what you did wrong.
When you finish your food, you try to reach over for another piece of dimsum but it's a little further out than expected. Suddenly, Wooyoung grabs a few pieces and places it on your plateâ still not making any eye contact with you.
He's so confusing.
You're not sure if you want it to be like this.
You quickly decide that you don't. You don't want to be this way with someone, you don't want someone to ever be unsure of you. You don't want someone to make you feel the slightest bit of doubt. Which, is crazy to think about. Because Yeosang could've been that person, but you were too busy wanting Wooyoung. You were too busy having feelings for Wooyoung, and even though you still feel guilty about the whole thing with Yeo, there was no way you could've forced yourself to feel a certain way.
Wishful thinking, perhaps?
At least, now you know, and you'll never allow yourself to do that shit ever again.
You continue to eat and engage in small conversation with Jiwoo and her parents, Wooyoung and San mostly in their own world together off to the side. He was seemed to be fine with San, and you don't know if you made it worse for you. You tried to push it to the back of your head, trying to tell yourself that you shouldn't feel this way. That you didn't need to be so hung up over Wooyoung. That you didn't do anything wrong.
Still hurts, though. You wonder if he'll ever talk to you again or bring it up.
When lunch is over, their parents pay for the bill and leave a hefty tip, passing out the little candies that were brought over with the receipt. Jiwoo quickly shuffles you away, thanking her parents for lunch before taking you down the street to a popular nail shop for your appointments.Â
The nail shop is as busy as it gets on a Sunday, but you don't wait long before you and Jiwoo are seated at the spa chairs for the pedicures. Jiwoo starts to tell you about how her and Hongjoong are going on a last minute trip to Japan and that you were welcome to come along if you wanted. You've gone on little trips with Jiwoo and Hongjoong before, and they've never made you feel like a third wheel. But, you wonder when you'd get to go on trips with your own special someone, your person.
Would this change things in the future? When Jiwoo and her family invite you on their trips?
Would this change everything?
It makes you feel like you really should've thought about your decisions before letting things escalate that night. Everything feels like a hard ass lesson, and you hate it. Everything is reminding you of your recklessness, of how you relied so much on the way Wooyoung treated you at the party. You can't say you regret it though, but it's starting to feel like a mistake.
When you politely decline and tell her to have fun with her boyfriend, another tech comes to work on your hands, beginning your gel manicure while the other tech continues with your pedicure.
"Has Yeosang texted you?" You shake your head.
"No." You sigh. "We probably won't be the same for a bit. He did say he needed time."
"I'm sorry." Jiwoo looks at you with a small pout. "He'll be okay, though. I know he cares about you regardless."
"And I care about him, too. I just want us to be okay."
"Are you sure you don't wanna come with us? Leave this place for a few days. Work won't care if we're both off last minute, we have enough team members to cover." You chuckle.
"I'm good. Promise."
"What do you wanna do after? Should we shop, then pick up some takeout so we can watch our movies?"
"Sure. I do need to buy some new clothes. I haven't spoiled myself in a bit." She gasps dramatically.
"Same."
"You went shopping when we bought our dresses."
"And that was awhile ago." She shrugs. "I'm on the lookout for this thick zip-up jacket. My brother has one and I keep taking it from him. He keeps getting mad." You don't respond. "I hate to say it, but Wooyoung has taste. Sometimes."
"Hm." You hum.
"Did you notice Wooyoung being all quiet today? It's not like him."
"I guess so."
"Well, he was quieter than usual. It's so unlike him."
"Why don't you ask?"
"Because my brother won't say a thing. I could tell him all my problems, but he won't tell me most of his. You know this. I dunno if it's some kinda façade or front to maintain this strong, older brother image. I know things bother him, but I also know a lot of things don't. It's difficult to read him." Ain't that so, you think. He is terribly hard to read.
"Do you think it's over a girl?" You awkwardly ask, looking to see what her reaction is.
"Wooyoung sulking over a girl? I doubt it. I haven't seen him do that since him and his exes broke up, and that was years ago. I'm convinced stuff like this isn't worth it to Wooyoung anymore. I haven't seen him be different around anyone."
"Oh."Â
"Yeah, well. Whatever. I'm sure he'll get over it."
"Yeah, I think so." You respond softly, which Jiwoo kinda catches on. She sees how quiet you've gotten and how you've managed to hide back in your shellâ you probably tried not to make it so obvious, but as your bestfriend, it's easy to pick up on your switches, too.
It is a little odd, but she won't bother. She just wants to have a good girls day with you.
After the nail appointment, the both of you make your way down to the biggest mall in town to shop, especially for her trip. You find a few new outfits, one you can't wait to wear out and flaunt. Wooyoung briefly comes to mind, but you shake it off and correct yourselfâ because no, you're excited to wear and flaunt the new outfits for yourself.Â
No one else.
You were genuinely happy for the first time today. You felt good about yourself.
Until tonight comes, and all of that goes out the window rather quickly.
When you get back to Jiwoo's apartment, the both of you are pretty exhausted from the long day being out and about. It's a little past 6pm when you drag yourselves in. You take a quick shower and wind down for the evening, changing into comfier clothes that you've packed in case you wanted to spend the night at Jiwoo's. You lay out the food on the living room coffee table while Jiwoo takes her shower. You've already decided on a lineup of movies tonight: Brown Sugar, The Wood, Love and Basketball. As you wait for Jiwoo to be finished, you scroll through your phone to see if there's been any new updates, new texts.
Nothing.
Though, you've noticed Wooyoung has posted on his Instagram story. You're not usually one to peep, but you are curious; you can't help yourself. For the most part, they're just random photos of the city, San. There are two photos that do catch your eye and you're not sure if Wooyoung meant to post this for a particular reason or just cause. The first photo that catches your eye is an old vintage poster of Spirited Away. It's alongside other vintage Studio Ghibli posters, but he posted this one in particular. The second photo is of the view. You remember that Wooyoung goes there to clear his mind. You wonder if San tagged along.
"What a day!" Jiwoo comes out of the bathroom, hair still damp. She rushes over and plops next to you on the floor in front of the coffee table and TV, sending Hongjoong a quick text. "Ready, babe?"
"Mhm." You nod, the both of you popping your lids to your bowls open as the movie begins. "Thank you for today."
"Of course, are you kidding?! I love a good girls day with my bestfriend." She smiles at you, digging into her food. You swallow the lump in your throat when the truth settles in the pit of your stomach, almost making you lose your appetite completely. She gives your arm a good squeeze. She's so happyâ you can't believe you're gonna be the reason why all of that changes. You needed to be honest with her, if not yourself.Â
Because what happened, happened. There was no going back to change it.
You give it a good hour or so, making sure the both of you have finished your food and are satisfied while you sit in your thoughts and determine it's probably a good time to talk to Jiwoo about everything. The night has settled, the climax of the movie has passed. You don't wanna wait too long, and you feel like you shouldn't; somehow hoping it'll lessen the damage, lessen the blow.
"Jiwoo." You poke her arm softly.
"Yeah?"
"Can we talk?"
"Sure, of course." She looks at you with concern, pausing the movie. "What's up, babe?"
"You know the other night, when I had dinner with Yeosang?"
"Mhm."
"There were other things I didn't get around to telling you."
"Did something else happen with him?" You look at her and you already feel the impending breakdown ready to take over in about 0.5 seconds.
"N-no. Not Yeosang." You physically shrink as you try to gain the courage to continue on.
"Huh?"Â Silence. "What is it, Y/N? What're you hiding from me?"
"I-Iâ" You feel tears welling up in your eyes. "Your brother. I meant to text you while I was drinking at the convenience store, but I accidentally texted your brother. He ended up swinging by and he walked me back home. A-andâ" You pause, tears now slowly streaming down your cheeks and they seem to keep coming even with you constantly wiping them away.
"And, what?" Quite frankly, she knows where this is going. Jiwoo just doesn't wanna believe it. But, she has no choice when you hit her with the:
"We hung out for awhile, and things went further."
"Further as in?" You start to cry a little more. "Further as in.. what, Y/N?"
"Things just escalated so quickly, I'mâ"
"Escalated? Did you sleep with my brother?" She's in utter disbelief and her tone says it all. She doesn't even need to hear a verbal response from you because your face completely gives it away.
"Jiwoo, I'm sorry. Things just happened andâ"
"My brother? Out of all people? Was that why you were so quiet today?" More silence. "Y/N, what were you thinking?! He's no good for you! All he's gonna do is hurt you like he does with every girl that gets tangled up with him. He doesn't care, he'sâ" She stands as she keeps going, but you aren't hanging onto one word she's saying. You just wanna get this over with, you just wanna get away. You don't wanna hear what you already know. It's your fault; she told you so. You should've known.
"Jiwoo." You plead with your eyes, hoping she stops. It doesn't make anything better, and you feel like a child getting scolded.
"What did he say to you?" She pauses. "What did he say to you? Did he say some sweet shit to get into your pants or what? Were you really that naive?"
"Jiwoo, enough. Please." You cry. "He didn't have to say anything to me, things just happened and it wasn't just Wooyoung. I played a part in this, too." You're not really sure why you're explaining it the way that you are, but you feel as if you have no choice at this point.
"Yeah." She says, almost mockingly. "So, what now? Has he even talked to you after that?" You shake your head pathetically and your tears fall even more. "Exactly, I thought so. Because that's who he is, Y/N. I thought you knew that! He's not gonna change. Now you're here crying over him like the rest of them usually do!" You cry harder, feeling like you're about to be shoved in a corner for timeout. "You can't tell me you actually have feelings for him." She scoffs.
"I'm sorry." Is all you say. What you're sorry for, you're not sure. For yourself? For how things quickly unfolded? For having feelings for her brother?
All of the above?
"Did he even tell you he had feelings for you? Did he tell you anything before he ran off and got what he wanted from you?" You shake your head. "Unbelievable." She grabs her keys and her purse. "You should go."
"I'm sorry. I thoughtâ"
"Please, Y/N. I need some time to process this."
"Where are you going?"
"To my brother's. Quite frankly, I can't look at the both of you right now, but I need to talk to him." You shake your head.
"It's not gonna change anything."
"It's not, but he also deserves to hear it since you're here crying in my living room about it." She furrows her brows in deep disappointment before giving you one last look. "Thought you knew better than that." She turns on her heel and leaves you in her living room. You cry, and you cry. You cry that you don't even know what you're crying over, what you're feeling hurt over.
You cry because one bestfriend is mad at you, and the other bestfriend needs his time away from you.
You cry because you have feelings for Wooyoung.
You cry because you feel so naive and stupid for admitting it, for going along with everything.
Were you wrong for feeling the way you do over him?
You quietly clean up and gather your things, sadly throwing the duffle bag over your shoulder as you lock her door from the inside and walk out. Your head hangs low when you start to walk to the nearest bus stop, taking the long way back home so that you can clear your mind and stop by Papa's apartment on the way over. Honestly, you don't blame Jiwoo for acting the way she did. You knew she was very protective of you, and you knew she was coming from a good place. You kinda just wish everything went down a little differently.
So, you continue quietly. Tears streaming down. Phone tucked away and on silent. Shutting down and ignoring the rest of the world like you always do when things go awry.
"Baby, don't you think you should just simmer down first before talking to your brother?" Hongjoong says over the bluetooth in her car.
"Simmer down for what? I can't believe he'd do that to her."
"Well, you don't really know if he actually had bad intentions. It does take two to tango. You ever think maybe, he's always had it for her and just never realized until he had to be her date? He probably needed the time. I don't think Wooyoung would mess around with Y/N like that."
"Kim Hongjoong. Aren't you supposed to be on my team right now?"
"I am, that's why I'm trying to tell you this is probably not a good idea."
"He was wrong, okay! She's naive, he knows that." She groans, causing Hongjoong to sigh.
"There were better ways to go about it, sure. I just don't think he's intentionally trying to hurt her like you think he is."
"I'll hang up in 5 seconds, Hongjoong." He clicks his teeth.
"Where is Y/N anyway? Thought you two were having a girls day."
"We were until she dropped all of this on me. She's probably on her way home."
"Why did you just leave her?"
"Because I'm angry and I can't deal right now."
"Then, go back home. You can yell at your brother any day, but you shouldn't leave her."
"I'll call you later. I'm at Wooyoung's."
"Jiwooâ" But before Hongjoong can say anything else, Jiwoo is ending the call and shutting off the car. She slams the driver's door and heads into the lobby, furiously pressing the elevator button to bring her up to the 6th floor. When she gets off and heads to his door, she repeatedly knocks until she hears shuffling on the other end.
"What the fuck is wrong with you!" Jiwoo storms into Wooyoung's apartment as soon as he swings the door open. He knew this would happen at some pointâ he just didn't think it'd be tonight, exactly.
"You really don't have to yellâ"
"My bestfriend!? Why would you sleep with her! She's not one of your fucking girls to toy around with, Wooyoung!" He's actually appalled at the way Jiwoo is coming at him right now. Most of the time, he can handle her. Today is just one of those days where he can't, and he feels himself losing it a lot quicker due to the sensitivity of the subject. He hates how Jiwoo looks at him this way, and he hates how she's so quick to badmouth him, especially when it comes to you.
What if he truly, truly cared about you?
"No one said she was!" Wooyoung matches her tone and San is awkwardly sitting off to the side, unsure of what to do. He didn't think he'd ever hear it this way, let alone didn't think Wooyoung would ever sleep with his sister's bestfriend. It wasn't a secret that Wooyoung thought you were cute, attractive. He just never crossed those lines because he didn't think he should, especially with the way he had tendencies to be a dick.
San is so unsure of how to take all of this.
Did Wooyoung just cave after the party? Did he plan for this to happen? How did he even get you to do all that with him?
"What else can I call it? Why would you take advantage of herâ"
"Slow your fucking roll, Jiwoo. I never said I was just using Y/N for anything, nor do you have the right to assume that." Wooyoung says seriously. It's true, and he finds himself hurt at the wild accusations Jiwoo is spewing out. He wasn't always good, but he wasn't entirely bad. He's made some terrible decisions and acted poorly in certain situations, but he never failed to learn from his mistakes and be the bigger person about it. He'd be honest, and in the end, he would never let his pride win just to get away with it.
"What am I supposed to think with your amazing track record?"
"I don't care if I made some mistakes or fucked around in the past, you don't get to say all that just because you're angry."
"All of a sudden you're good and pure when it comes to Y/N." She groans. "I swear to god, Wooyoung. The favor was supposed to be just a favor, not a window for you to add her to your rosterâ"
"Aye, stop while you're ahead." Wooyoung cuts her off. "You don't get to come into my space and yell at me for shit you know nothing about. Stop painting me like that, Jiwoo. I'm not this shitty person you like to think I am. For real. I don't appreciate it. You're spitting out all these crazy accusations when you have nothing but my past to refer to. I was never planning to 'put her on my roster' or treat her that way, I never meant to hurt her in any way. It's fucking wild you'd assume that."
"Then, why haven't you talked to her if you wanna claim this is different, Wooyoung?"
"Because I just need time to sort through my shit, okay! As much as I wanna talk to her, I don't know how and I'm trying to figure it out, that's all. Sorry. I'm not tryna mess this up more than I might've already done."
"You're unbelievable." Jiwoo glares at him. "Do you have feelings for her or not? It's a simple yes or no. Stop dragging it out so unnecessarilyâ"
"No. We're not doing this right now."
"Wooyoung!"
"I don't care! That's not for you to decide, so don't push it." He says sternly. "I'm not answering your question cause we're not talking about this right now, not when we're both angry. We're gonna go in circles like we always do and we're not gonna get anywhere. So no, I'm not saying anything to you, especially until you stop yelling and accusing me of things." He glares at her. "I sure as hell hope you didn't come at Y/N this way because she didn't do anything wrong. You don't get to talk to her like that either." He pauses. "Where is she?"
"I told her to go home."
"Oh, so you left her alone just to do this? The hell is wrong with you?"
"Can't I say the same shit about you? Leaving her that morning without saying a word." She scoffs while he bites his tongue, hoping she'd leave after getting this out of her system. "I thought so. You better fix this properly." Is all Jiwoo says before she turns on her heel and slams his door shut.
"And you should fix your attitude while you're at it!" Wooyoung yells. He groans loudly and plops onto the couch with a loud sigh. "Sorry." Is all he says to San, who is still dumbfounded over the argument that just went down.
"It's all good." Wooyoung is running a hand down his face before tossing his phone onto the table and resting his head back against the couch. As much as he loves to push his sister's buttons, he doesn't enjoy it when they fight. He doesn't like it when they're heated and angry at each other. He knows she can't help but protect you [rightfully so], but he hates the way she treats him like he has zero common sense. He wouldn't do that to you, especially out of all people.Â
You would never be just another girl to him.
"So, what happened exactly?" Wooyoung lets out a breath.
"It was the other night, after she had dinner with Yeosang. She meant to text Jiwoo while she was drinking at the convenience store, but she accidentally texted me. I swung by to make sure she was okay, and things just escalated that night."
"That's why you two were weird around each other today."
"Yeah, but that's mainly my fault. I ran off when I shouldn't have. I didn't talk to her the way I wanted to because I froze. I haven't really felt like this in a long time and it scared me. It's a dumb excuse."
"Woo, are you sure this isn't just a phase or something?"
"A phase?" San shrugs. "You're not serious, right?"
"I don't know. I just have to ask. I feel like you've had moments when you thought you liked someone, but it wasn't like that."
"San." Wooyoung almost looks hurt when he turns to him. His expression says all.
"Hm?" Wooyoung shakes his head.
"It's not like that at all. I-I genuinely have feelings for Y/N. I really, really like her."
"Oh." San looks at him, a mixture of confusion and concern plastered on his face. "Oh, okay. So it is like that."
"Fuck." Wooyoung groans. "I fucked up. I should've just told her. Fuck!" He repeats, now pacing around his living room. San doesn't even respond because he's not sure how to. He watches as his bestfriend runs his hand through his hair, quickly texting away before making a call.
Wooyoung's third mistake is letting this linger. Now, everyone, including you and his sister, are continuing to paint him as this bad guy; a bad guy that he has a tendency to be, had a past history of being. But, with you, he's different. He needs you to know that. He should've done this differently.
He just needs to be honest, and he knows he can't put this off any longer. It's time.
Wooyoung feels the inner panic when he tries to call you a few times, but you don't answer. He sends a few texts asking where you're at. If you're safe. If he can come see you so he can talk to you because he really needs to.
wooyoung:Â y/n. i know you probably don't wanna talk to me right now, but i really wanna explain.
wooyoung:Â i'm so sorry y/n, i fucked up. can i come see you so we can talk about this properly?
wooyoung:Â at least let me know if you're okay and safe if you don't wanna talk tonight.
And you see the missed calls and texts from Wooyoung. But, they're overshadowed by the missed call notifications from Papa. You barely get a chance to let it marinate, especially when you approach his apartment and all you're welcomed with is chaos.
Bright lights.Â
"Papa?" You walk closer to his apartment, seeing the paramedics coming out with your grandfather on a stretcher. "Papa!" You cry, pushing your way through them to get a good look at your grandpa. He's conscious, barely clinging onto it, though. He gives you a small smile as you hold his hand and climb into the truck, sitting right by his side. He called because he needed you, and you weren't there. You weren't there because you were too busy justifying your actions to Jiwoo, you weren't there because you were too busy trying to find out how to tell her you had feelings for her brother.
You weren't there, and he's here.
Wooyoung is the last thing on your mind right now.
